dash Cam

Has anyone had a dash cam installed ? If so what make ?

Is the BMW pair of cameras a good option ? I was just thinking about having them install it prior to delivery ?

any recommendations gratefully accepted

I had Blackvue 2 channel DR-750 ... really excellent. I paired it with a big Blackvue battery pack though as I have previous experience of dash cams with parking mode draining my main battery - especially with BMW's ! BMW's are so sensitive to battery drain that I bought a separate battery pack so I could have parking coverage.

The battery pack when fully charged keeps the camera working for 24 hrs. Each time you start and drive it recharges the battery pack quite quickly and, obviously, when the engine is running the dash cam runs off that.

I have been really impressed. They are hard wired and the whole thing was quick to install and no issues since.

+1 for the Blackvue DR750-2ch. Had one paired with a Power Magic Pro on my last car (F-Pace) to enable parking mode. The Power Magic monitors battery voltage and shuts off the camera when the voltage drops to a preset value (adjustable on the Power Magic)

I did find that there would often be a "Low Battery" warning on vehicle startup. This makes me think that with the BMW sensitivity to battery drain, I might pair a couple of BlackVue batteries instead this time.
