Finally tarnish free mirrors and grill

6 months in and the mirrors and grill looked almost gold in colour. Bought detailing sprays etc but tarnished look remained. Tried some of this T-Cut Metal Polish today and what a huge difference. They look more silver again and tarnish free

The middle picture before doesn’t really show how tarnished they were

Looks good mate, but isn’t T-Cut VERY abrasive? I could be confusing with the original T-Cut. If I needed to do the same, would 1st try something like GTechniq M2 Metal Polish, as non abrasive, but appreciate all of the above might be bollocks.

😂

Stupid question... but are the Cerium Grey parts metal or some composite? If the latter is any metal polish right to use? Guidance appreciated. Thanks.

I found that the Lakeland stainless steel cleaner worked well. Any other similar cleaner would probably work well. Once they are fairly clean then the bmw glass cleaner works well for maintaining them.

This stuff seems quite gentle and suggested for car and motorbike parts, no sign of any scratching etc

I am not 100 sure to be honest, they looked so bad and 1990’s Lexus gold I tried it with great results.

If it’s a plastic coating the. I may not use again, or rarely if they get bad

Fair enough, but not that you would notice any form of scratching but more how aggressive it is in the cleaning process. For example used to use autosol on wife’s JCW chrome tips, but that is more for when there is bad corosion or pitting. M2 just a light polish with little or no “cut”

Anyway, whatever works, that is the main thing.

They are metal, I took my bumper boomerangs into the paint shop this week and they said they didn't think they were even painted, but the finish is the bare metal!
