35i M sport Front bumper 20"rims 275/315 tires
Hi all,
Thought I would share some of the mods I have done so far. This post is long overdue, I just never got around it. Its a 35i that I purchased back in 2015. I'm on my second set of wheels. The first set (black) 20x8.5 with 245 front and 20x10.5 315 out back. The offset was't optimal so I had some rubbing in rear (even after I clearance the outside of the fender) . The second set have a much better offset they are 20x9.5 and 20x11 with factory X5 sport tire sizes 275F/315R. Mods as follows:
I think that covers it for now. On to the pics! Edit the pics I have are too large I will need to figure out how to resizes them in order to post them. Below is the only one I could get to upload. Last edited by rcsup1; 06-14-2018 at 10:02 PM.. |

The wheels in the picture are F20x8.5 35mm and R20x10.5 32mm. The wheels on it now are F20x9.5 35mm and R20x11 40mm.
I'll try to get the other pics to load over the weekend. |

Overdose,
This is not a factory M Sport. I installed an M sport front bumper, seats and steering wheel . I plan to color match the rest of the body moldings and will be installing the wider M sport flares in the rear as well. |

It was relatively easy but I have been modifying cars for 25 plus years. You will need to trim and alter the factory splash guards some since they don't line up fully.
I also trimmed to front bumper support to get the coolers mounted and have the full mesh look/functionality, vs the factory half cover side vents. I'll try and post pics later. What is an easy way of shrinking the pics I have so I can upload them. |

Did you have edc for your suspension from the factory? I want to get coilers but not sure how it'll affect other electronics in the car, or if the brake system uses input from the electronic shocks to apply the brakes for handling, or if codes will be thrown, etc.

These offsets - you said the first ones rubbed, the second set was OK? I've been considering another set of wheels for my X3 and am looking at what I can get away with. I know tire width is a factor as well. If you have a minute could you clarify what did and didn't work? |

The first set rubbed in the rear with the 315's. This even after cut the top of the fenders some to make space. The second set does not rub in the rear, again keep in mind my fender are cut to allow more space. There is some minor rubbing in the front with the second set (due to the 275 tires which are wider) on full lock. Nothing major though.
