Need tech input please : code P10F3, P112E & P0172
Guys, need sanity check please.
After 6h drive, car throws drivetrrain malfunction with codes P10F3, P112E & P0172. History point : I refueld after 4h, tank was at 50% and i chose usual Premium grade of octane. All shops are closed and I need to get back home first hour on the 25th AM, so I either leave the car here and get it towed back (imagine the cost..) or take a chance its only a fuel issue mixture and drive it back? (2 babies passengers) Looking forward to your input... Thanks |

I can't give you tech help, but I can point you to an N55 tech code list. I wish you the best of luck getting home safely, and keeping those babies safe. Sadly, I can't help you other than pointing you to this document.

So I decided to go through with it and drive the 6h back. I fueled up before and all went fine except for a "Reverse lamp malfunction" error in the dash. I really think all of this was due to dirty fuel, but we'll see. I have an oil change in the coming days. Will update if anything related comes up. |

I had a similar issue with my X3 35i M-Sport last year during a long drive, drivetrain malfunction and went into limp mode. I didnt have a code reader with me, so dont know what it threw. I turned it all off, waited ~5 minutes, turned it on and the drivetrain malfunction went away and did not return during the return trip.
I assumed it was some overheating of the trans and/or transfer case due to the long hours of highway driving. I havent been on a long drive like that since then to replicate the conditions. |

Probably some ignition coils died. How many miles on the car? This happen to me a year ago, I had one ignition coil changed, then the summer of this year it started to happen again. Limp mode, DTM warning went up for no reason, no engine power. I replaced all of the 6 ignition coils and spark plugs and hasn't shown up since.
