We can now share that the 2016 X4 M40i Base MSRP [see official info thread] will be $57,800 (plus destination & handling). Pricing and Ordering Guides will be forthcoming soon.

The X4 M40i will join the BMW M2 in having their world debuts at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2016.

Production of the X4 M40i begins next month (December) and will arrive in showrooms starting February 2016.

Is this price dictated by the Macan S, or is there some logic based on where it falls within the lineup (I.e., 3-series based quick SUV)?

It has nothing to do with the Macan as that is job for the X3 even though it is based on the F25 chassis.

The X4 M4.0i is the top of the X4 range and is priced accordingly, until the X4M shows up with next generation.
