Is this noise normal? (N55 Tensioner Noise)
My 2011 X3 35i has made this tensioner noise since new. It occurs after cold starts at idle. It goes away when you rev it up. It gets slightly better once the car is warm. I think the tensioner is faulty, but was told this is normal.
What do you think? It certainly doesn't sound nice (although I doubt it is a problem). https://www.dropbox.com/s/1rqh110q50...0Noise%202.mp4 |

Mine just started doing this about 4 weeks ago. I hate it. I don't think it's " normal". Maybe the bearings or bushing on them wear out. I'm over 50k miles already.

Mine does that too... Since 12 miles on the odometer.. A little annoying, but not overly worried about it,,

Sounds like mine too.
I was investigating an a/c compressor noise and noticed the movement on the tensioner on my car. I thought it moved more than it should for a straight six but the movement is similar to your car. All good.
