We have 2 X3s, a 2019 30i and a 2022 M40i. The brake dust is 10x worse on the 30i than the M40i, which is counter intuitive given the size of the brakes, extra mass and the more spirited driving on the M40i. I have heard there were lower dust pads installed on the M40i, but wanted to see what other options the forum has installed and had success with. Are there any low dust pads that retain the same brake force as the stock 30i? Are the LCI X3 30i brake pads now also a low dust compound that is retrofittable?

I don't know if they are available for the M40i but it's worth checking.

I picked up iSweep IS1500 for my X3M and they are incredible. Virtually no dust and no sacrifice in stopping power. I don't know how they do it lol

I knew that most of the German makes all have terrible brake dust issues when I first started looking at Mercedes, Audi's and BMW's and anticipated the worst.

To my amazement my 2020 X3 30i DOES NOT suffer from excessive brake dust issues on the wheels. In fact, the exact opposite is happening. I'm not experiencing any brake dust issues at all. I'm very surprised and happy about that!

I found this problem with my wife's car and fitted these attached.

Powerstop Z17 series (the same as 16 series but Z17 includes hardware)

initial bite is every bit as good as OEM with almost no dust and no problems fading when hot.

Perfect fit , even come with new stainless hardware.
I reused my wear sensor as I changed the pads at 7k miles.

I've bought another set to fit to my 2022 , I'm that impressed.

There are lots of ceramic pads to choose from, I tried Dynamic friction on my previous GLC Merc and they were terrible, no feel, no bite.

The powerstop pads are great and much cheaper than genuine BMW.
I've left the car 800 miles in between washes and the wheels are still bright and shiny, no brown dust and only as much dirt as the bodywork.

This is good to hear. I was planning on trying out their Z23 carbon-fiber ceramic pads.

They don’t make them for our car. At least not with the M Sport brakes. Believe me, I’ve checked.

That’s a shame. I was able to find them on RockAuto for my X5 with the M Sport package.
