I am planning to purchase a hitch mounted cargo rack which will go into a factory installed hitch. Have you had positive or negative experiences with them? Is a 60" wide rack a bit too wide for the X3? A 48" version likely would look the best, but I would prefer some extra space if a wider unit would not look bad or present other issues. It looks like I should get a 4" hitch lift to keep the rack above the exhaust tips. Aluminum would be nice for mass savings, but I am ok with steel also. I am probably going to pick up one from Harbor Freight as the usage will be limited and will mostly be used for coolers and other bulky, but lightweight items.

Are there other points of consideration or recommendations that you have? Thank you....
