Well... the software update did not work as it went dark 4 times in the last few days. Taking it back again ... We'll see what they say next???
Does anyone out there have a successful fix??

Well we may FINALLY have a fix ... I hope. My dealer contacted BMW NA engineering and they said the problem is caused by an interaction of the car and the myBMW app which are connected by bluetooth. Apparently this issue has surfaced across the entire BMW line. In my case I had version 4.3.2 of the app and they recommended that I upgrade to version 4.5.1 (did anyone get a notice to upgrade?). They claim this will fix the issue. I hope they are correct!
To find what version of the app you are running go to the very bottom of the "Profile" page and click on "About My BMW app".

I'm not convinced that this will change anything, but we can live in hope. I've never heard that the app talks to the car via Bluetooth. That would just make it harder to code with no discernible benefit. Much more likely that - as when we are away from the car - the app and car just speak to the cloud independently.

Were you using the most up-to-date version of the app? It is clear that the app does communicate with the car in some way ... because the app will show the current location, fuel level, mileage and tire pressures real time. The service manager told me it was via bluetooth. Anyway I hope this works!!

This information can all be updated via the cloud, as takes place when you are not in the car. There is no need for the app to speak directly to the car.
