Extended warranty

Hi fellas

I did some research on extended warranties and I couldn’t find any updated or relevant posts. I called a few places and they all bashed each other as expected. I read the reviews online but they were horror stories that were alarming.

Anyone recently get an extended warranty ? Or any experiences?

I was quoted from endurance 5 yr 100k mile —-8k
Car shield 5yr 100k—-6200
Empire auto protect 5 yr 100k—3200

Going to the dealership this weekend so I will inquire about their plan as well.

Thanks in advance

Not sure if the BMW-backed plan has gone up recently, but the Platinum 7yr/100k plan with $0 deductible should be around $4300.

The quote I got was
72 mo 100k miles was 6050
84 mo 100k miles was 7300

And that’s 0 deductible.
I wish it was 4300.

And the maintenance plans are almost the same price

Definitely call Christine at Steve Thomas BMW in Camarillo. She is the finance manager there and will give you the $4300 quoted above. Just spoke with her like 2 weeks ago. I was quoted $4300 for a 2019 X4 M40i with the 84 month/100k platinum BMW warranty and 0 deductible.

Best price around! Cheers

An x4m extended warranty will cost more than the x4 m40 one will. I'd be surprised if they quoted you this 4300 dollar figure for an x4m. I'd also jump on it if they did!

This was Christine’s quote. I was hoping it would have been closer to the 4300 as described by others.

At these prices you are better off self insuring by putting that money away instead. Go buy QYLD and/or JEPI that pays a nice dividend. Even if ETF price goes down they pay a nice dividend. In few years ETF price will be back up and dividends received will be a plus.

Still learning about stocks. If you have any more advice please let me know. Still learning lol

Yea. The prices are high so I was going to wait since I have a factory warranty still. Some places will negotiate prices with you but lately no one has been lenient on pricing.

For a beginner especially a young person just put some of your paycheck into VOO or SPY and years of compounding will help it grow in cruise control.

For individual stocks buy the shares of quality companies that you use their products on daily basis that have been around for a long time that pay dividends but this should be small % if you don't know what you are doing.

There is also treasury I-bonds now at 6.89% APR you can buy direct from govt that are pegged to inflation so that you don't lose value of your cash in the bank to inflation.

Stay away from meme or speculative stocks. Remember slow and steady wins investing.

That makes sense. Going to look into that asap. Thanks for the advice. Trying to learn and everything you read online are mostly long shots or trying to get rich quick schemes. Glad to hear sound advice which will help down the road which is what I am looking for.

Thanks again

Question reg 2019 X3 Extended Warranty

Hey Fellas,

I would appreciate some guidance here:

Due to the insanity with new car pricing, I purchased my 2019 X3 with 28k miles and am contemplating if I should buy extended warranty.

I drive maybe 7-8k miles per year and Christine offered the following:

Platinum Plan

60 months/75k miles $2900
60 months/100k miles $3200

72 months/75k miles $3350
72 months/100k miles $3850

84 months/75k miles $3800
84 months/100k miles $4350

I work remote and haven't been driving much lately. I was going to keep the X3 until the end of 2023 and lease a step up.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I the car serves your needs get a warranty. Interest rates are not going to be anywhere near as favorable as they were on the 2019

Fidelity Platinum Warranty

I purchased a Fidelity Platinum Warranty from Troy Dietrich. Covers more than the BMW warranty and starts when you buy the warranty and not the in service date of the vehicle. Almost everyone including my local BMW dealer takes it. Had this warranty with an Audi A8 and the company paid for all repairs.
Got Troy’s name from others on this forum. Here are the prices I was quoted as of May 2022:
Vehicle: 2019 - 2022 BMW X3 (Excl. M and Hybrid models) with less than 10,000 miles.

Fidelity Platinum Protection Plan:

With $0 deductible:

6 yr / 60K - $2214.00

7 yr / 70K - $2801.00

7 yr / 100K - $3841.00
8 yr / 80K - $3231.00

Hi , These are the quotes I received in an Email I received from Christine yesterday for My18 X3 30i XDrive with a little over 23,000 miles on it . The warranty quotes are BMW’s numbers , I’m not sure about the maintenance, maybe 3rd party. As it says, the BMW warranty starts from the day of service, so the maximum warranty you can get is for 84 months . Again, the 84 months starts from the 1st day is was sold . I hope this helps.

One thing to keep in mind is that when you sell the car, you get a prorated difference of unused warranty time balance back.

Nah, you want SPX. It cashes out at the end of the session, plus SPX options are on the prices of the index itself as opposed to the ETF. So there is less speculation with SPX.

I bonds are the shit right now. If I were OP I would spend every single dime I have on I bonds. The rates are sky high and will probably never be this high again. Shit, even on 2008 when the economy went to shit, the rates where not as high. I think I bought mine at 5.5%.

Last year it was higher. But the 6.89% isn't bad at all. The only caveat is can't invest >10k per year. But still better than money sitting in bank or spent on car parts!
