Hey guys. Got an x4m comp. wanted to ask fellow members regarding the brakes. Any stop I make I hear those brakes grinding. Anyone else have this sound? Only have 600 miles.

I don't have grinding...but they squeak quite loudly at low speeds/in parking lots, especially in reverse. My sisters F90 M5 is the same way...

Well I know the rotors and brakes need to stop some hefty size. I hope that's the case

No brake noise at all, but only 300 miles on it.

I have the same noise!

I think it may be when you come to a complete stop with Hill Hold enabled?

yes complete stop only. I won't hear it at higher speeds. Auto hill is off. It's only happens at a full complete stop and sounds like metallic grind as if my brakes are bald. It will go into run in service soon have it checked out.

No squeak on mine. 1800 miles on the clock.
Just major brake dust as usual.
Only squeak on reverse.
Forward motion at low speed, just a minor squeak similar to wiper against squeaky clean glass.

Bedding them in will reduce the noise.

They squeak. It's a feature of the M brakes. Only does it in mine when they are a little damp (but its no longer raining). If they are dry or properly wet, it's quiet, only damp at slow speeds approaching a traffic light, and intermittently.

I noticed mine doing it the past couple days. Only makes it every now and then when coming to a slow stop. Sounds like metal on metal.
What was the outcome when you mentioned this at your service?

Everything looks fine. These M brakes are stronger compound in the newer models.

Any aftermarket alternatives for the dust?

I installed Axxis Deluxe pads on my E46 M3 and they were virtually dust free. Less initial bite but much more linear.

I tried the same on my Nissan Armada and they were terrible and felt like they could not stop the truck.

I’m gonna bed the OEMs once I’m past break in. Hopefully that will help the dust.

OP - I do not get the sound you describe and they are for the most part silent. The only time I get noise is when damp/wet in reverse.

No aftermarket yet unfortunately.

Bedding won't help the dust. It is the material compound that causes the dust.

So far no noise yet, only when backing up.
But I can live with it. It is not as bad as my Pagid pad on my 997.1 C4S.

Some claim bedding helps with dust. Most agree it helps with squealing though.

Hopefully there will be some options as mine are dusted on one trip only driving 4 miles a day!

Any fix or cause of this?

Has anyone took their vehicle to the dealership and what was the outcome?

Can't be gentle on these brakes, you need to hit the pedal hard and with purpose.
Gentle gradual braking creates glazing on the pads, hard breaking scrubs that off.
