I too am on the hunt to clear out the amber

I'm guessing.... we're gonna have to open up the head lights, physically remove the amber, then replace the front lens over the headlight housing?

Istalled a Tow Hitch

I installed the Curt 13316 hitch receiver, Curt 56146 wire kit, and Curt 55151 powered wiring kit.

I am pleased to report that the comfort access foot-activated-opening-doohicky (technical term) still works after installing the hitch.

New Cargo Carrier

Didn't really do anything to the X3 per se, but I did get a new hitch-mounted cargo carrier and put it together today.

That, new headlights assembly, or add eye lids?

Would be awesome if the Amber could just be removed ...

HighDef: car looks VERY sharp, nice work. I should get with the program on cleaning my car- but it's raining here in SoCal right now, can you believe that!

Specs on the rear wheels? Fitment looks great from the rear.

Got her, and cleaned up the front

Today I received my ‘14 xDrive35i MSport from a transport truck from NY! Immediately took out the floor mats, vacuumed the little bit of dirt/dust that had gotten under them, and installed the WeatherTech’s, took off the front license plate mount, installed the BumperPlugs and then swapped the kidney grilles

Dealer had lost the passenger rear tow-hook cover, sent a set separately, but I still have to get my paint shop to paint it Space Grey.

First two are when she first arrived, the rest from after.

After the kids finally sleep, I’ll get back out there and get her coded up nicely

Specs on those rims/tires? Also do you have the H&R lowering springs? Looks super aggressive.

Started the task of tinting my tail lights. Still have to do the outside ones, but those are going to take a little more practice. Love how they look though.

That looks great, I have a white x3 and plan on changing some trim to black. I haved picked up black emblems as well as a grill and would love to do the same to my lights can you give us a little more detail on your process. What did you use to tint them and the process you used to apply it. I want to do all my lights.
Thanks, littleob

That is the link to the film I got and used. All I have tinted so far is the inners which are pretty easy since they are flat. I actually removed them and cleaned them really well. Added some soapy water and just squeeged it out once the film was positioned nice. A sharp razor along the edge and they were done. The outer ones.....they are much tougher. I gave one a quick try and had a hard time getting it to wrap around the corner and havent tried it again. I will probably try it again with them on the vehicle next time. Luckily it comes with enough film for a practice run or two.

since my company stated "there is no end in sight" in regards to working from home ... I figured this would be a great opportunity to detail the car, over a one week to two week period.

so .... that mission began on easter sunday... the car was given a wash:

part 1 = wash the wheels.

with a totally separate bucket of (clean) soap and water, washed the car.

... to be continued ...

04/13/20 - Part 2 = The "clay bar" phase.

I pref these clay mitts over traditional clay. Speed is key. I was able to "clay" the hood in 10 mins

some vids of what it sounds like before/during/after

I spent 30 mins total on Monday (my lunch break) doing the hood, fenders, front bumper, and side mirrors.

... to be continued ...

Clay mitts? Hmmm, not familiar with them, I use the traditional clay bar, works great but I'm always interested in a quicker path to the smooth finish like you showed in your last video.
Got a picture of the package or a link to where to get them?

this is a game changer. it is essentially a really really really BIG friggin clay bar. you go from a clay bar that's the size of a business card, to this monstrosity that is about the size of a baseball glove.

(note, "clay mitt" into amazon yields results that are 2x cheaper. I have not tested other brands, but I am certain they work as good)
