Nev's 2019 X3 M40i in Carbon Black

Hi all,

Welcome to my new thread, going to be my 1st BMW since a 323i in the early noughties.

I have purchased a X3 M40i (Coming from 2018 2.0 TFSI Q5 - so a nice step up), and looking to collect later this week.

Car is built, and has the following spec:

- Carbon Black Metallic
- M Sport + Package (21" RFT Cerium Grey 718M d/spoke alloys, Adaptive M sport suspension, Sun Protection Glass, Harmon Kardon Sound)
- Panoramic sunroof
- Folding mirrors.

I have asked the dealer to do the minimum PDI, and leave me to properly decon, clean, correct (Single stage correction with Flex DA, Chemical Guys Hex Logic Green Pads, Sonax Profiline Perfectfinish) and ceramic coat my car with Gyeon G2 Pure.

I will add the details of this when done, and post pictures.

I am a newbie here, so be nice :-)

. Bet you’re wishing this week will speed by.

Your BMW Dealer might be surprisingly competitive on alloy insurance if you negotiate. Did you get ALA to quote for this?

Hi & welcome Nev...look forward to the pics.
I took the main advice from reading this forum and as suggested from most, I will put money aside and not go down the route of getting tyre insurance and hopefully end up better off money wise....

I did not get the tire/rim insurance with my last bmw lease, and ended up getting bulges on the front two tires within the first year. I did pay for the rim/tire insurance for this one based on my last experience as it will be more convenient for me in case there is a bulge or puncture. Will see how it turns out!

thanks mate, counting down now, as pickup is tomorrow PM :-)
I tried ALA, but they won't do over 20" wheels.

I will try and see what their best price is tomorrow.

Going for the BMW Service inclusive for £399 (3 years / 36000 miles) seems a bargain to me.

that is what I was thinking (put money aside) as generally not a fan of insurances, apart from GAP, House etc

I thought about it as well but I don’t think I’d get my money out of it. I only do a few miles a year (5,000) so it’d be 2 years before it would need a service, so I’d only get one service out of the package.

So after collection yesterday, I have commenced full prep and decon, and today follows single stage correction and then ceramic coating with Gyeon Q2 Pure.

Looking good.

I get mine in the morning. It looked the same as yours with the plastic wrap still on. You do get some strange looks when you ask for it to be delivered in that way...!

I think you said you were doing a single stage with Profiline, I'm going to probably use CarPro Essence in the hope the paintwork is in good shape.

Single stage correction completed, as hoped, paintwork was good and only one or two minor scuffs that came straight out, car now also coated in Gyeon Q2 Pure

Paintwork in excellent shape, but make sure you get all Film and contaminants off. I only got caught out with the mirrors, ruining mini da pad
