Hello all, first time posting but i read the forum since last year when i bought my '17 x3 X-line. I need your help in diagnostic the tailgate.
When i bought the car everything was working properly. In december i found water in the trunk, the tailgate was opening amd closing but not lifting. Drain water then removed tailgate control module and opened, cleaned and dried it, reinstall and tailgate is again operational. Or at least i was thinking so.
This weekend i discovered that while the car is locked, the tailgate can be open and lift by anyone who is pushing the button on the tailgate and the alarm starts. The remote is not in the range. Waveing the foot under the car will not open the trunk when the car is locked.
Everything else is working as it should.
I coded some things since last year, i have bimmercoding and protool and looked to see if there are some settings to keep the liftgate locked but didn't find nothing
Any idea what to do next?

I had water and it soaked the control module. It worked for a while after I dried it out, but quit. I replaced the module with a recycled one and it works fine now.
I don't know if that is causing your locking issue, but sounds likely.
