CarPlay third party activation
I am looking to get CarPlay activated in my G01 but don't want to spend A$500 on the official product.
Looking at the third party vendors I see prices ranging from A$90 (eBay) to $550 (at Bimmer-Tech). I don't know how these codes are got but am very apprehensive about ?bricking or at least losing other officially available functions. Does anyone know if the differently priced third party sold products are different to each other in any way? Or is it that some offer the same product cheaper? Thanks |

The 3rd party coding option for Carplay does not currently work on latest car software for G01.
I lost my 3rd party Carplay activation and it took bmw a week to successfully update the software. I don’t know if 3rd party coding was to blame. Scary at the time. |

The cheap price is very tempting but don't want any complications with warranty/ other features, etc. Did you get it working in the end? Which vendor did you use? Sorry about the multiple questions. Thanks |

Nope Carplay is gone... money down the drain. Even if 3rd parties find a work around... there’s no guarantee that bmw won’t block them again in future updates. |
