I honestly believe the X3 LCI will have slightly bigger front grills with more angular shape, like the current x5, including the interior center console like the x5 or g20, infotainment screen will grow to 12 inch ant still be positioned the same as now ( not side-connected to the dashboard like on the x5) - this is seen clearly in the latest spy shots for the x4. Full idrive 7 integration with camera on the dashboard, as the ix3. As far as these are the changes - i am happy !

Expect the front to be a cross of the x5 and ix3

My thoughts on the forthcoming LCI:
Similar headlights to the 5 series LCI
Similar grill to the 5 series LCI
Removal of fog lights
ID7 full version with larger screen
M40i to get mild hybrid as per 5 series

Definitely want to get my new X3 before they put iDrive 8 in it. HAL 2000 comes to the automobile.

It's not as simple as the center console though. The door panels, handles, and numerous other parts would need to be swapped in. That would be a huge huge cost and upheaval to the production line.

I don't quite understand why everyone is ignoring the fact that... we've seen it.

Now in the pictures we've seen:

That's not a retrofitted G20 or G05 Dash (the screen and gauges aren't connected)

AND

That's not a G20 or G05 Center console either (the center storage compartment, angles, and leather trim are all completely different.

So all we have to do is ask ourselves what's more likely:

Did BMW create an ENTIRELY bespoke interior for a single X4, that won't come in this generation(which then means it certainly wouldn't fit the next which will have iDrive 8)

OR

Is BMW stepping outside the LCI norm to increase interior quality on the highest selling model they have.

(Side note, if you look closely you'll see the slope/design of the passenger side dash is unchanged, meaning they wouldn't actually need to change the door design at all, all of the changes are on the central part of the dash)

Something still doesn't add up though, are they really going to retrofit the new center console/controls and then leave the legacy door panels, handles and switch gear (which is what is shown in the spy pic). Maybe that is the case, but if so, it would make for an oddly incongruent interior.

The doors, no idea. Maybe they haven't made them yet or didn't fit them to the car but I agree it would be odd not to change the handles.

As for the switchgear, isn't that the current X5/7 Switchgear, just not in glass? Just like in the M340i

Just to muddy this up even more... when the M5 had its LCI, there were a few mules spotted with the updated console, shifter, etc. Lo and behold, the LCI was revealed with the same exact interior as before, except for a slightly larger i-drive screen.

I'd expect the same for the X3 LCI - larger screen, status quo elsewhere. I think BMW just does this stuff to mess with people.

That spy photo also shows a full M steering wheel (M colored stitching) and I highly doubt they'd be putting that in the M40i models. My guess is that this is just a test mule with various parts thrown in to test things out.

Good eye on the stitching but if you zoom in on the gauge cluster, you can clearly see M40i written there, which means this specific vehicle wasn't a full blown M.

Lets say even if it were, the same interior would go for the entire lineup of X3/X4, since we've never seen completely different layout for M and non M models.

I doubt they will do a half assed job like that.

Based on the giant new nav screen position being high mounted instead of lowered with smaller vents like the X5, the only thing that will be changed is the center consoles current X5 design. Door panels will not change and the dash change will be as minimal as possible to accommodate the new screen. BMW is not going to redo the entire interior on a LCI. Other than a full iDrive 7, remote start, seat options, additional tech, they will not give the X3 everything the X5 has to differentiate the reasons people buy the more luxury options offered in the X5. My $0.2 so we will see soon enough.

That was my point though, it is an M40i model with a full blown M steering wheel. This is very likely a "parts bin" special to test various technologies on the X3 chassis. I don't think that specific leak is truly indicative of what the LCI will have.

Agreed. BMW is not going to redesign the entire car for an LCI, lol. People who think that must be new to BMW.

I would be more than happy if the LCI added full iDrive 7, remote start, and a couple of new exterior colors (hint, hint, Donington grey and Toronto red). The vehicle is already a work of art.

Did you see the writing on the center steering wheel, "When vehicle is stationary, fold down camouflage" lol

I would expect iDrive 7 and remote start as being a good possibility but I would highly doubt they'd all of the sudden allow M colors on the X3 M40i at this time.
