So BMW is going back to calling the competition option a package and not a standalone model? That seems odd considering they just went the standalone model route recently.

I believe that will be the case for the rest of the M line up as well.

Ah I didn’t know that. Has anyone posted pics of a ‘20 with the CF package?

I'm not sure if this is the reasoning for it, but this will change how the invoice is calculated on those cars. Essentially it (very slimly) increases the margin on a comp for 2021.

If I had to guess it has more to do with bmw line logic strategy, they are in process of more strongly messaging the Mperfomance line (m340, m40i, etc) as "M cars". It simplifies it down to 2 tiers with competition being a sub tier upgrade and the two full tier differences being very obvious and easy to differentiate.

I wonder if they'll go away from the 'Competition' badge like the E92 ZCP or F10 ZCP (no Comp badge).

Putting Competition as option makes so much sense. At least here in South Florida, almost everyone opts to buy the comp model and the non-comps keep piling up.

I think the cars will still have a Comp badge

Do we know if the tech update to iDrive 7 and Live Cockpit with M views includes this view? Is this M view or Track mode view?

So which view is that? How do we know it's included? Sorry it's just important to me as I consider grabbing a 2020 off the lot vs waiting for April production or beyond.

I would wait to see an official order guide before making your decision. SOP is next month so the OG should be available very soon.

This article shows the 2021 X3M with the following M-specific screen:

While it's a German article, I would be very surprised if this display is EU only. The expectation is that's what we are getting for '21 X3Ms. But, as the other poster pointed out, only a month away from '21 SOP, so that's the surest way to know.

That's the view in M-mode which is common to all ID7 equipped M-vehicles. When you start the vehicle it always defaults back the counterintuitive boomerang displays common to all ID7 equipped vehicles unfortunately.

Thanks all. I'm hoping to get a killer deal on the "old" model but if not I'll happily wait for the tech update.

Looks like this view will not make it to X3M or X4M. Maybe because of the missing track mode?

It actually changes how allocations are done. In the past on 2020's dealers would get X amount of X3MC allocations and X amount of X3M allocations. Now they get X allocations of X3M and add package. This is better especially in markets where the X3MC out sells the X3M. BMW did something along those lines back in 2016 with M3/M4 allocations as to where a dealer could select which one they wanted and that was how the demand for the M3 was met back then. They are doing it across the line which makes sense and less models to have to put into their system and such.
