For that much coverage, the price is a bit higher than my experience, calculating from what I paid in Michigan long ago (but so is everything in NYC) assuming the PPF is high quality, such as Xpel from one of these in your area. I only did a partial for front for hood, fenders, front fascia, lamps, and mirror caps. Ten years ago on my 2 Series, that was about $1200. No doors, no rear, but cars out of NYC don't suffer as much trauma either.

I did the entire front clip (bumper, fenders, entire hood) plus mirrors for $2,500 in NJ

Your installer sounds high for the coverage you are getting

For the front clip he is only charging 2200

I don’t think hood is that important therefore I choose the doors and rear bumper

I wouldn’t mind doing the whole car but it’s just too expensive

I wonder if it’s possible to get a full car PPF for $3500

Ah, i see. Yeah I didn't do the doors. I guess it is a good idea as the film should give protection for door dings.

Another PPF question

I just had my wife's X3 M40i done in PPF. I do want to add that this is the 3rd car that I've done at this shop. The shop that I bring it too does all the PPF film for the Porsche/Audi dealer. I had the entire front end done (bumper, hood, quarter panels and back of the mirrors. I also had the door cups, door sills, rocker panels and entire rear of vehicle done. They also did a paint correction prior to the PPF and then finished it with a Gtechnique C2 ceramic. The total cost was $3500. I live in Southern NH.

Nice! Could you give me the name of the shop? Did you leave your car there overnight?

Auto Alliance Detail in Nashua, NH, ask for Kyle. Yes, I’ve left my vehicles overnight without issue. Great guys and know what they’re doing. Ron

I've had 3 vehicles done with Suntek and couldn't be happier. I don't believe there's a major difference between these self-healing PPF's but the most important factor is the installer and what he or she feels most comfortable working with. The installer is #1, my first vehicle I had done didn't have a good installer and I needed to take it to another dealer (current installer), who called Suntek and was able to get the car totally redone. Suntek does back their product. That's my 2 cents.

Clearly, the capability of the installer is critical, no doubt there. I don't know Kavaca, but I've done a few cars with Xpel products completely successfully. I also tinted 4 cars' windows with Xpel products. If the dealerships in the two different states I've used are representative, they appear to train/have high caliber employees. When I first chose Xpel, it was after seeing results on the film not "yellowing" over time, and Xpel was superior then to the alternative from 3M.

Garage List
2021 BMW X3 M40i  [10.00]
Personally I would not leave out the hood but I see OP made their choice.
I chose to do entire front including hood, bumper, fender, mirrors and it was under 2K in SF Bay Area CA (not the X3 but an Audi Q4 so slightly different in size - also more than an year ago so also YMMV). Installer is excellent and used Xpel.
