Passenger Side Mirror Auto Dimming

Kind of a weird question, but since BMW likes to change the way things work from year to year, I have to ask:

I have been noticing that when people are behind me at night and shining their lights, my rear view mirror dims and my drivers side mirror also dims. But I also noticed that my passenger side mirror does NOT dim. Is that correct? I can't remember if that passenger mirror dimmed in any of my other BMW's so I'm just curious if this is correct or if it's something that needs to be looked at when I take it in for my next service.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you in advance.

Yes, this is normal for US cars. Not sure why but I think around 2018 BMW removed this feature for US cars.

The passenger side mirror in two of my X3’s dimmed . The 2007 & the 2013 . I’m not sure I really notice that that the passenger side doesn’t in my 2018 . The dimming mirrors are definitely noticeable , it’s one of the first things my daughter asked the first time she drove it at night. Definitely a nice option.

Unfortunately, no, the passenger side does not dim. Every single Audi and VW I had dimmed all 3 mirrors.

There are auto-dimming capable passenger side mirrors available on eBay etc but from my limited reading and questioning here on the forums, there is no wiring available in the doors or nearby to enable the function easily.

I don’t really need it to dim, especially now that I have an X3 and not a lowered car. But it kinda surprised me because I guess I’m right in remembering that every other BMW I’ve had (this is my sixth BMW) dimmed all three mirrors.

Thank you to everyone who is chiming in. I really appreciate it!!

Unfortunately even f25 did not have the passenger mirror dimming. Anyone knows if this is possible to be retrofitted?
