Researching US Pricing of other models .... X5 M in the US 101k and is about 1-2k less than the M5. X5 base model is around 60k so there is a 40k delta between that and the X5M. X3 base model begins at 41K and the X3M40 well equipped runs in to the mid 60s. I anticipate a price slightly higher than than 66k which was the base price of the outgoing F80 M3 and therefore I'm anticipating the X3M at around 72k and the X4 at around 80-81K |

As a M40i owner (leaser) I don't see the point of a X3M to be honest. The M40i is already too fast for a SUV and the ride is already pretty stiff. Plus supposedly it's getting 385hp bump next year. Just wasting gas and tires with a X3M :

The M40i is probably the best mid size performance activity vehicle around. Adding the X3M is a good thing. More product variation. A little sharper. I'm waiting in line for one.

For me (I'm driving a 440i GC right now) the X3M is certainly a step up and fits the bill for my next car. The X3 M40i is certainly an awesome car (I tested it a couple of weeks ago), it does things it shouldn't, so to speak, but I wouldn't trade in my 440i for this car (at least not now), but for the X3M I would, yes. So yes, X3M? Bring it on

Yesterday I saw a camo'd up X4M AND X3M up close in person here in Germany...unfortunately the driver, who was eating lunch on the hood, asked me not to take photos.....
Thoughts: X4M had the current full screen digital cluster with the rings. M seats had an interesting diamond pattern (a la Audi) sewn into the the back and seat planes. Yes the steering wheel is an M one. THoughts: X3M was the only one I heard running and sounded like a freaking beast. The driver was quick to shroud the instrument cluster, but I saw a piece of it, and it looks like it may have the new cluster with the opposing C's. What I found disappointing was that the fenders didn't look to be any bulkier than my 30i. So, cosmetically the sides are identical and the only real giveaways from afar are the front/rear bumpers (tires/rims were clearly not production ones)?? So disappointed that I didn't take any photos, I guess I'm just too polite for my own good.

What's the reason of choosing an X3M over an X3 M40i?

I didn't either but when you got Porsche, Merc, & Alfa dishing out powerful SUVs it's only right to join that market. Plus I think Merc just set a record at the Nurburgring with their GLC. Only right for its main rival to compete with that.

Is the X3/4 M getting the M xDrive from the f90 M5?
