X4 Lane deviation and bling side detection deactivating

Hello fellow members, looking for some help.

My 2017 X4 has been doing this occasionally and have taken it to dealer while under warranty but they couldn't find anything. After the warranty is over, now at 90k miles, the problem is almost permanent.

I noticed that when the car starts first, the blind side detection is on. When it reaches the speed that it needs to turn on, its being deactivated. The lane departure detection is now permanently deactivated.

The dealer's (stealer) diagnosis, replace the steering wheel vibrator and steering wheel control unit. The quote is $1200 and wait time for the parts is unknown.

questions:
1. does the diagnosis make sense since the lane deviation and blind side use different sensors, but I guess both use the vibrator.
2. Any suggestion for aftermarket parts?
3. Is this DIY job?

thank you

Is blind side detection the illuminated icon in the side mirrors ?

If so, under normal usage, it doesn’t vibrate, unless you ignore the warning and attempt steer the car into risk. Can you set vibration feedback to off in iDrive ?

Has the dealer interrogated the car and these are faults the car is issuing, or is it a guess ?

Ps you posted twice, so best to delete one.

It would be helpful to post the codes you’re getting.

Neither the light nor the vibration work. It was the dealer’s diagnosis.

I will see how I can remove the duplicate post. Thanks
