On my BMW order specification from the dealer, it lists "552 BMW Icon Adaptive LED Headlights" under "Standard Options". I posted an image earlier in this thread showing what the BMW UK Configurator shows for the headlight.

I think BMW has started to make things vague to quietly omit options. Things like Adaptive Drive Mode has gone. Almost to the point of standard features being described as Headlights, Wheels LOL.

Who knows what will be missing on delivered cars.

Just got my order sheet. Looks like the SirusXM is now deleted and "without designation lines" If anything else gets deleted I will cancel and wait for the 2023.

Sirisu still shows up on my specific build sheet, and in the X4 Order guide. But then, it also shows wireless charging as a $300 option, and that was not available in the configurator (or through the dealer from what I have read) - so it seems like everything is fluid these days with the shortages.

Are the adaptive LED lights on the X3 M40i supposed to swivel when turning the wheel? We just picked ours up and it lists "Adaptive LED lights" on the build sheet and window sticker, but I didn't actually see the lights swivel when turning the wheel. On the side of the lights it just says BMW LED, whereas on my M2 it says BMW Adaptive LED, so maybe that is just how they are. Can anyone confirm? As a comparison on my M2 the lights do swivel when turning the wheel.

That's the big question - they are supposed to have a cornering feature and should adjust a bit on turns. But it's just not clear anymore. It seems like you are only guaranteed those functions if you get the Icon Adaptives (which are not offeredon the X3/X4 in the US now).

So then "adaptive" may be a casualty of the parts shortage. Thanks for the pic.
The gallery pic for the X4 that has the close up of the lights on BMWUSA says just "BMW LED". It is a 30i, but they usually don't photograph decontented vehicles.

There are enough owners out there that should be able to check. Drive behind a car with auto high beam enabled and the high beam should split around the car to avoid dazzling.

That has been coded out of US vehicles. So, we're not able to test that feature.

When I'm in my garage with the headlights on and I turn the wheel from side-to-side I can see the lights shifting ever so slightly to the side I am turning the wheel. Not sure if they are actually moving or if it's just from the car's stance changing.

My car's Monroney sheet says "Adaptive Full LED Lights" - Included. The headlights themselves say "BMW LED". You can also see what I believe are those cornering lights that we spoke of before.

So no selective beam splitting or auto high beam in the US LCI ?

The UK light also says BMW LED on the cover, but both the configurator and brochure mentions Adaptive LED and Icon Adaptive LED.

The window sticker on our car says "Adaptive Full LED Lights", but on the lights themselves it just says BMW LED like in the photo jsh139 posted. The cornering lights are in board of the main lights like in JC210's photo.

I'm wondering if this was just a redesign of the light? I found another thread on the 5-series forum where folks noticed the same thing.

We get the automatic high beams. And when they turn on it’s not an instant on. I can tell that there are multiple beams gradually turning on. So I believe that the lights themselves have the capability to do to do the beam splitting. But I believe that the technology itself is not approved by our transportation authority. So BMW removes the capability via coding. It shows up on the build sheet as “5AP - Decoding for no-dazzle high-beam assistance”.

Got it - So it's a US regulatory thing rather than"chip" availability issues.

Trying to decipher BMW product info and spec is a PITA, particularly when they use different names for the same thing.

Seems to be so. Not sure if it’s with all BMWs, specific models, or a just blanket regulation issue. But the no-dazzle high beams haven’t been on any US X3 to my knowledge. And I read somewhere on here that it was because it was approved by US Department of Transportation.

Interesting. My current Nissan Titan and former Toyota Tacoma both had auto-high beams. So I don't think it's a regulatory thing per-se. I think my Audi S3 may have also had them but I can't recall.

I thought the cornering light was on the inside edge point sideways'sh like the pre LCI image above. I don't think in the UK there is anything like your image and wonder if this is US running light ?

On my 2020 X3 with adaptive LEDs in Germany the headlights have a "BMW adaptive LED" text like in this picture:

Below is a picture of the "Full adaptive LED lights" on our '22 M40i, as specified on the build sheet and window sticker. The lights do not say adaptive anywhere on them, but from some of the earlier posts I am starting to believe this may actually be the case with BMWs newer lights. I have also circled the cornering light, which can be seen on the inner portion of the light.

Auto high/low beams are fine in the US, it is the additional adaptive technologies that we are lacking. There are many articles on this due to US regulations. Here is one from C&D.
