The new BMW X3.

The sister publication of Autobild "Allrad" has a new Huckfeldt interpretation of the forthcoming BMW X3 Sport Activity Vehicle.

As of all the publications who have created illustrations of the X3 , This interpretation stands out as the closest to the production car which this time around will be built at BMW's Spartanburg plant in South Carolina.

Taking as many of the characteristics from the E83 and refining them such as the rising glasshouse towards the rear of the car coincides with a sloping coupe like roof at the rear quarter this brings the X3's characteristic rear quarter light a better resolved solution allowing it to be smaller and more shapely. The visual appeareance of the car adds more muscle to the E83 with equally strong haunches and flared wheel arches similar to the E53 X5 and typical of a BMW SAV which adds more robustness and masculinity to the design.
The front end of the car becomes more aggressive with the main lighting units angled with a prominent larger Twin kidney grille as expected of a BMW today.

Unlike the X1 The new X3 will use the latest Single Turbo Six cylinder engine as introduced with the BMW 5er Gran Turismo and the soon to be launched BMW 5er.

The rear receives more BMW like L-Shaped taillamps than todays car . The overall look allows the X3 to become a more dynamic orientated SAV than before. Using a completely new platform and technology that will integrate into the next 3er. BMW will position the X3 as the Sporting enthusaists choice in the growing segment of mid-line compact SAV's.

The X3 will be the exception to the rule. It is no longer going to be the pariah of the segment it created.

Im really happy with the engine choice for this car. The X3 is a car that I believe will sell in big numbers and the single turbo 6 cylinder is one that everyone should be exposed to as a stepping stone into other BMWs

I do wonder how accurate the headlights are? I'm still weighing in my head if the squared off headlamp design really meshes with the flowing hood design that is similar to the 7 series and 5 series.

This is a true statement! I used to drive an X3 and it was never greeted as well as it should have been. Fundamentally it was a nice car, but with flaws in certain areas that stood out among the competition.

Do you know if there will be diesel options in the USA for the X3? For my next X3 I'm looking forward to trying something different...

If the new X3 looks like that, I'd be happy and eager to replace my current 323i with that! Wow! Looks like it would be a great machine to haul my new family in!

Exciting news! When it comes time to replace my One series, this could be the vehicle. Be cool if it came with a manual but probably unlikely.

That rendering suggests a fairly low ride height. I personally see that as quite sensible (because few X3'ers are actually going off road) and likely to optimize handling.

(P.S. I still think the current X3 is a better all-around vehicle than the RDX, EX35, and the few other vehicles that are direct competitors. I actually think the real problem is that some non-premium vehicles are better overall on many levels).

I always wanted a X3-like SAV and this certainly will do it. The current x3 has to go IMO.
Coming from Range Rover Sport, I am definitely in this market.

Can't wait!

Stunning! I will be trading in my 06 X3 for this beauty. Will this thing handle any better than a Lexus RX?

Due to the low resolution of the picture some of the details are quite distorted. But in all the interpretations of the upcoming X3 this one by Huckfeldt is closest by far. If you check the recent pictures taken around Spartanburg you can see evidence or similar details.

Well its close, but those headlights, and mirrors are all wrong!!

All they need to do is add comfort seats as standard, and then add the N55 and CA, and then they can sell it for a few more years, the way it is. Even today, the X3 has one of the best drivetrains in it's class.

I agree 100%. As well, they should be selling the X1 here already, waiting on that is also hurting them as well.

I know they don't want to take sales away from the X3, but in my mind, they are taking sales away from the brand at the moment as potential X1 buyers are looking towards other manufacturers.

X3 buyers will be different from X1 buyers for sure.
