First BMW - 2019 X3 30i
Hi all,
Just brought home my first ever BMW. Nothing fancy like the M's, but a decent G01 X3 30i. Had dreamt of owning a BMW for as long as I can remember, so that's a check. It includes the Convenience, Premium and the Driver Assistance Package. I wish I had the DA+, but maybe next time Here is what I love about the car. I come from a 2013 Camaro, so the ride quality is like 10X better. Even better is the fact that its equally quick and can seat 5 and their luggage! Starting a family, so 2 door wast helping. :P I am used to having a head-up display and the one on X3 is amazing. So much more details - speed limits, navigation, track info..definitely worth the upgrade to Premium Package. Many other things to love, but I guess I needn't bring those up with X3 forum members! Now here is what bugged me (too much love for a car can cause unrealistic expectations) - a) The rear view camera blacked out once. Tried everything to no avail. Had to leave the car off for like an hr before it came back again. Luckily this hasn't happened since. Reliability should be standard on a $50K car. How can I trust the PDC or any other electronic safety feature to work every time without doubting it. b) The passenger side window auto-up / auto-down features stops if the driver accidentally presses the button at the same time. Small issue but irritating when showing off the new car. Finally, some questions... a) Are you supposed to be soft on throttle for the first 1000 miles? Had to do that on my new chevy, so just checking if BMWs are the same way? b) I am new to BMW or to coding...does coding in anyway affect my warranty like jailbreaking does for phones? Congrats!!
I'd take it easy on the throttle to just break it in for the sake of sanity. Even though they say its no necessary.

Our X3 has been great so far. We are still in the break-in period too. |

Congrts on your new ride. The 30i is a wonderful vehicle and plenty for most suv consumers.
Coding can only effect warranty on items it is directly related to. There is the magnuson-Moss warranty act to protect consumers from a dealer denying warranty coverage on your engine when you have replaced your turn signal bulbs with leds for example. The auto window interruption is not an error. It is designed to stop auto function if the switch is activated between all the way up and down. This is a safety measure to keep people from smashing things in the window. It also allows the owner to stop the window where they like. |

The 2019 X3 sDrive (rear wheel drive only) has been available since April-May. The 2019 X Drive models begin production next month.

You can get the BMW X3M later (when it comes out). We are very happy with our 30i...it has all the things (and more) than the girlfriend needs. It is the first time we made a new model purchase (the first year of the G01) and I was hesitant to do that at first, but after having driven the X3 for a while I am glad we decided to get it now. I'm sure you will be too. |
