Does anyone know why BMW does not just make carplay full screen? Is there a technical reason why BMW makes it 2/3 type mode? Seems to me BMW could just update vehicle firmware to be full screen.

It's an email account and payment details. It frustrates me to no end to continuously see this thread bumped with nothing but, "PM me?" "PM sent." "PM me?" "PM sent." "PM me?" "PM sent." "PM me?" "PM sent." "PM me?" "PM sent."

This thread should be locked and the business should move to the classified section, per forum rules.

The original Post #1 by @geodeo was for a solution he bought.

https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...87&postcount=1

And as written in earlier post when I was asked about DIY:

https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...&postcount=204

RHD Split Screen / Full Screen possible, but it is not codeable. Need commercial patch.

Solution requires SSH / Root Access to Head Unit and patching file, which is not possible without specialized tools / software.

Applying the solution though is DIY as remote access to head unit is not needed. Solution is a self installing Application.

Like everyone else, I wish RHD Split Screen / Full Screen was factory iDrive setting or at least codeable, but for now, there is no other way. For my F15 though, I'm glad that there is at least an aftermarket solution that makes it possible.

If you are technically minded with a little bit of IT knowledge, this is doable at home.

what fullscreen activation entails of is changing the carplay.ini file with parameters ( 8.8" 1280x480
10.25" 1440x540) to make the Carplay screen bigger and nothing else.

What they use is plug and play software like HUTOOL or FEMTOEVO which automatically opens up the SSH port on the evo, enters root password and changes the parameters.

If you know your stuff you could download a few free programs online like Putty, open the SSH, enter the evo root password, ( can be found on the net) and then edit the parameters .

Its a bit of hassle, but doable as some people have done it themselves, but its easier to pay around $40usd and have it done by someone like femtoevo (fscmap) or shawns method in 5min and 3 steps.

Please note that if you have had the rear view camera recall done, the changes made will make going to full screen Carplay via USB no longer possible. I found out the hard way, having gotten the USB upgrade some time ago, but deliberately not installing it until after the recall was done. I'm just going to live with it unless Bimmercode eventually comes up with a way to code it.

Or get new ENET Full Screen solution.

I was asking about the PM messages that peoplewere asking for, because it looked like they obtain some instruction how to DIY. Which is not the case. I already purchased a solution from eBay (together with with activating CP).

Thanks for clearing things up on who to achieve full screen CP. As an IT guy myself, what you say sounds familiar and achievable, once I would start the project. Maybe another time.
