Ha, yeah, one of the "cooler" days here in Phoenix as of late. So far this summer we have had 50 days of 110 degrees or higher.

How is the install? Where did you get them? If you don't mind sharing.

Custom made. Install was easy once I figured out positioning and cut them.

Excuse my ignorance but this will leave the valve open? Better exhaust sound I assume?

Yes. it will be open. If the sound is better depends on what you're looking for. On ours 30i I put it back. since it didn't make that much of a difference. Might be (and probably is) different for M40i.

I'm not sure, but from what I've been reading, you pull the fuse after it's open. You essentially keeping the valve motor from moving by removing the power source, so once you're sure it's open, pull the fuse. If, on the other hand, you want it to stay closed, wait until it's closed then pull the fuse.

Just added BM3 Stage 1 93 late last night.
Dropping my mother-in-law off at the airport later today, a perfect time to test it out! |

Replaced the brake fluid today at 23k miles. Total time was 2 hours, including test drive and tool gathering/cleanup/put away.
Easier than the Mercedes, because BMW eliminates the first step of siphoning out the master cylinder reservoir. However, I don't like BMW's lack of a wheel installation tool because it requires more care and effort to remove and install the wheel bolts. Three twelve ounce (355ml) bottles was the correct quantity, this was recommended by the local BMW dealer parts attendant. No real gotchas on this. Just follow the procedure and take note of torque specs. I was surprised at the quantity of bubbles that emerged from the rear brakes. The front brakes had no bubbles. My Mercedes had no bubbles at all. Lots of brake pad life remaining, at 23k miles. Rotors are smooth and not grooved. Tools: Motive European bleeder, 11mm 1/4" socket, 11mm combination wrench, 17mm 1/2" socket (not shown), Tacklife 1/4" torque wrench (for bleed screws), Tekton 1/2" torque wrench (for 140Nm wheel bolts). Ignore the Mercedes wheel centering and wheel bolt lock tools. Here is a video of the previous model, in principle the G01 is the same. The master cylinder reservoir siphoning is not specified in Newtis. Last edited by chassis; 09-12-2020 at 01:00 PM.. |
