G01 Not Connecting to Vgate iCar3 WiFi Connector

Hey All,

New to the coding scene, and I purchased G01 Not Connecting to Vgate iCar3 WiFi Connector. I have followed the quick guide connection to the letter and I keep getting the same error code saying that it cannot connect. It says to make sure that it is connected to the WiFi in iOS (which it is) but I still cannot access the Bimmercode app.

Thoughts?

This is a known issue. The author of BimmerCode no longer recommends the Vgate WiFi adapter ("The latest Vgate devices do not function properly anymore, so these adapters are not recommended any longer." See https://bimmercode.app/adapters/). Get the OBDLink MX+ or UniCarScan UCSI-2000 adapter. Although, since you use an iOS device, you may as well get yourself an ENET cable and an Ethernet adapter. That is by far the fastest connection.

Have you selected the correct adapter in settings?

I have a VGate iCar II and have coded some limited features. As teaston mentioned, you need to select the right adaptor in the Bimmercode App. Also, you need to press the Start/Stop button 3 times in succession to enable 'diagnostic' mode.

Although VGate only supports a limited set of features using BimmerCode, the BimmerLink Diagnostic App works fine and can read all of the CPU's. As I want to code folding mirror speed (which I cannot using VGate) I am going to have to buy the UniCarScan adaptor in addition.

Cheers,
Minty

Yes good point about diagnostic mode I think a lot of people missed that, you have to press the start stop button three times in quick succession and then wait a few seconds for diagnostic note to

Thanks for the responses. I have started the vehicle in diagnostics mode by hitting the ignition three times. It seems that I will be returning my receiver for a model that is fully supported by BimmerCode.

Get an Enet cable and ethernet to lightning adapter, it’s much faster than even the best Bluetooth dongles!
