Garage List
(Need Help) S2VBA:TPMS

Hello everyone.

I own a Japanese G01 X3 M40d.
I bought new winter tyres last week, so I installed RDCI sensor valves.
My car has an RPA system, but I want to uograde it to the TPMS system.
What do I need to activate it?

I need your help.
Finally, I apologize for my poor English.

BMW likely never installed the radio receiver in the vehicle for the TPMS.

RPA or Flat Tire Monitor uses the ABS wheel speed sensors to detect a wheel has additional resistance because its gone flat.

You won't be able to add true TPMS without adding the radio receiver which might be difficult or impossible.

Hello
I have already provided a detailed reply to merocasper on this forum, here is the information I provided...

As you already know .. There are two different tire/tyre pressure monitoring systems used by BMW.

S265A TYRE PRESSURE CONTROL (TPC) - RPA
S2VBA TYRE PRESSURE CONTROL (TPC)- RDCI/TPMS

The 2VB option also called TPMS/RDCI is the one which uses sensors (with metal tyre valve stems) in the wheel , the other system just uses tyre diameter and rotation and provides an estimate using the car traction control system (it has ordinary valve stems). Cars in US & Europe usually have 2VB, the rest of the world including Japan does not. S265a is cheaper because tyre sensors are not required. 2VBA is more accurate and the sensors can provide temperature and pressure data.

In F series and earlier BMW cars the 2VB system used to have/need a special receiver module fitted (near the left rear tyre) but in G01/G02 it uses the Remote control receiver " FBD module (this module is mainly used to receive signal from the car key to unlock car etc).

IF it is possible to enable/activate TPMS then I believe that in addition to fitting 4 tpms tyre sensors (on in each wheel) you will have to use E-sys tool and VO code your car with 2VB (Salapa) (and also remove s265 if you have it). I would check parts options for the X3 to make sure there is only one type of remote control receiver (FBD module) before proceeding. if there is only one type of FBD then coding should ALLOW 2VB to be activated, if not , then It will show which FBD module is also required to activate option 2VB. I do not think a BMW security/fsc code will be needed for enabling/activating 2VB because hardware is also needed (hardware= tyre tpms sensors x 4).

So in summary, in order to activate TPMS you will need to remove RPA. You can use VIN check tool to see if you car has option s265

https://www.mdecoder.com/

If your car has build option s265 it will have to be removed and replaced with code 2VB in your car software database (SALAPA). In order to do this change you will need to use BMW E-sys tool or hire someone to remote code for you. This coding is called VO coding and can only be performed with E-Sys and it cannot be done with Carly or Bimmercode. The reason Bimmercode will not work is because you will be coding several modules and also telling car software to use different module data to supply pressure information to the car HU (head Unit), this requires many changes.

Very thanks friend for your attention...
I know tpms send signal to FBD which send it to BDC and send it to DSC
I already coded it by esys and add 2vb to slapa and code it with vo and deleted S258 Tyres With Runflat Properties
I do not have S265
Coded BDC_BODY2
DKOMBI2
DSC3
HU_NBT2

and make reset

But not work
I do not now the reason

Hi
O.k s258 is for run-flat tyres. You can have s258 and 2VB together. I am sorry coding did not work.

If display is showing options for tyre pressure but you are just not receiving pressure information then I believe the reason for the problem is that the tyre pressure sensors you bought from aliexpress are 433MHz frequency but frequency for G01/G02 can be 315Mhz.

Above tyre pressure sensors are from your earlier post and are 433MHz
.

Tyre pressure sensors you MAY need, could be part36106887146 and are 315MHz frequency

G01 does not have a seperate receiver like on older E series.

The functionality is integrated into the comfort access receiver in the back of the car.

Hi. I saw the pictures. Do you mind letting me know if you ended up switching the sensors and if the ones in the picture are the parts you used in the end TPMS ECU and sensors? I am planning few retrofits for my F25 so trying to understand. Also, did you need to get a new FSC code and what was the main issue you were going through. Appreciate it.
