Carbon Fiber Trim is Stunning..

I was very please with "Grey Poplar" trim in last X3. I was planning on doing the trim again on the 2020 X3 M40i - after all, carbon fiber seems pretty "done to death". I opted for carbon fiber trim all the same.

I am very much impressed with the carbon fiber trim in the new X3 M40i. The quality is exceptional. The carbon fiber has an almost 3D appearance. I don't think I could ever see too much of this quality carbon fiber.

Enclosing pics (from iPhone). I prolly should have wiped down first. Being that images are processed by site, don't think it will matter much. Hope the pics can capture some of the effect shown in person.

Real carbon fiber has a 3D appearance because it is physical layers of fiber with an epoxy/resin on top. It's not just a painted carbon fiber design

Thanks for sharing those pictures. I ordered my new car earlier this week with carbon fiber with the blue stitching. I'm starting to wonder if I should have stuck with the standard contrast stitching instead :/

I've got the carbon fiber trim in my MY20 X4. It's incredible with Fiona Red merino and it appears to be the same trim that was in my M4.

Looks amazing. Have only had the brushed aluminum in my 335i & now my '16 X3. Definitely getting anxious for delivery on the M40i. I went with the oyster vernasca & CF trim; going for a high contrast sort of thing. Hope it looks as good in person as it did in my mind!

Hinckley, did you have the Canadian folks code the alpina dash? Do you like it? Have you noticed it being off speed wise? I have read somewhere that the scale is slightly off. Can you take a good picture of that? I know it doesn't really fit this thread, maybe PM me?

Yes, re the Canadian folks. Very good guys btw. We talked about the scale issues and they believe it was corrected with the latest software. I've watched closely, and I'm sure that the analog and digital read-outs are identical, so I don't think it's a problem any longer. The only thing that I think is odd is the 210 mph top-end. Seems a bit random to me. On a separate note, I think the display is really great looking. Here's another not so great quality pic.

EDIT: I just looked closely at a youtube vid of a B7 and the Live Cockpit Pro speedo's top-end was 340 km/h. That's the equivalent of 210 mph, so there's that mystery solved.

Anyone found any part numbers for this yet?

I had matte CF in my 335i, about 6 years ago. Loved it and want that very much, but glossy will suffice.

Hi Hinckley,

Was the coding for the Alpina dashboard on iD7 done via BimmerCode or another 3rd party tool as that would look great for me as an option to code when I collect my new car this weekend!

Looks great.

I sat in my brother in law's 8 series at the weekend and I have to say, I now really like the new Live Cockpit.

Pictures don't do it justice. It looks modern, fresh and has a nice 3D layered look to it.

Since it is a pure digital screen, maybe the speed limits/scale will change once you exceed 210mph? Remember to take a pic when you hit 211.

I'm sorry but I don't know. It was done remotely by the codemybimmer folks. I'm not sure which tool they use.

I think BMW could have executed Live Cockpit Pro a bit better, but in general I agree. It's really very striking to look at, especially in the Alpina color scheme.

So it is possible to already code the ID7. Hmm waiting on the Bimmercode to get up to speed I guess it is.
