iDrive 7 Coding - Bimmercode & eSys

Thought I would start a new thread to cover programing X3 (G01/2) and iDrive 7. All MY2020 BMW X3/4s will have iDrive 7.

I understand the G05 X5's have had a number of challenges.

Please post any successes / failures / challenges you've had with programming the 2020 X3/4.

Has anyone been able to flash an iDrive 6 unit to iDrive 7?

I only did the tailgate coding mod, as thats pretty much the only option available worth changing.

I am using OBD MX+ and it took less than 1 minute to code the changes, and it works without any problems that I know of.

I can no close the tailgate with the remote with a long press on the tailgate button, and also by holding the tailgate button on the driver door.

Totally worth the $31.99 in app purchase for me.

It is not possible and won't be possible since iDrive 5/6 is a HU_NBT2(NBT EVO) unit and iDrive 7 is HU_MGU(MGU) unit.

I can report BimmerCode has fair number of options. ASD is not there (probably as it seems reworked in iD7 and user has some control now). Anti-Glare still absent.

Present:
Disable Seatbelt
ASS
Seat Heat options
Window controls
Easy entry controls

Missing:
Logo control
Startup Screen
ASD
Disable Startup warning
Disable volume popup
AC Controls
Didn't see any video in motion stuffs

Sure there is more, that's just from memory. Of course iD7 is different and some options are now included - like engine noise. Still working on eSys stuff.. my image hasn't been used in a year and is not working correctly. Will be some effort to get going.

Note, I did this from my iPad Pro with USB-C to eNet adapter to eNet-ODB connector. Was fast.

Confirmed VIM is still not available. There are a lot more options since I last posted the screenshot. But still no dashboard or display screen customization.

I emailed support and they said the instrument cluster will be available with one of the upcoming updates, but there are no plans for VLD or anti dazzle

I'm struggling to get Bimmercode to connect. Using ENET Cable and Adaptor, airplane mode one, bluetooth disabled..... nothing works.

Tried the 3- quick presses of start button to enter diagnostics mode, but have no idea if this works as no confirmation anywhere (on Live Cockpit display etc)

I've literally just collected a new MY20 X3 M40i

It's a setting in the idrive under car settings. For X3 M40i there is an option for engine sound to change

Under Car: Settings: General Settings: Engine Sound

My problem is that it seems to do a combination of actual engine exhaust (via cutoff valve) and artificial engine noise pumped over stereo. I like option to run quiet, but I also want "Sport Natural", were exhaust is open but no artificial noise.

I think I actually get this with my JB4. The JB4 has option to force Can Flap open (using blinker). That combined with "reduced" may do the trick. Now just gotta install JB4 - not a rush because I still have another 750 miles to go in break in.

You could just disconnect the valve while it's open and then use Reduced to limit the ASD. You may get slight drone but it's an option I guess.

I'm a huge techie and I love to have my cars coded exactly as I want them, so it's admittedly a head scratcher for me why you guys try to fiddle with this stuff yourself when someone like codemybimmer can do it for $100. They're knowledgeable, fun to work with, and incredibly competent. btw, I have no affiliation with them other than as a very happy customer. Here's the list of coding that they gave me for my MY20 iD7 X4 (I've had most of it done):

Comfort and Convenience Features
• Windows to Close with Key Fob
• Enable Windows to Close when Doors are Open
• Enable Trunk to be Closed with Key Fob/Footwell switch
• Enable Remember A/C Compressor Off Mode
• Disable A/C when selecting Automatic Mode
• Turn off Horn on Secure Feature when Locking with Engine Running

Safety Features
• Change Speed Limit Info Sign to ECE (Circle with Red Outline)
• Enable Rear Camera Zoom
• Enable Sideview Cameras at all speeds
• Tire Pressure and Temperature Displays
• Turn off Seat Belt Reminder for Driver/Passenger
• Change Default Distance on Adaptive Cruise Control

Instrument Cluster Features
• Change to Alpina or M Vehicle Instrument Cluster Theme
• Change Sport Theme from Red to Grey

Lighting Features
• Turn off Amber Side Marker on Headlights (Disabled with Anti-Dazzle HBA Coding)
• Enable Anti-Dazzle High Beams
• Enable Variable Light Distribution
• Turn off Lights on the Off / 0 Position

iDrive/Infotainment Features
• Remove Start-up and Camera Legal Disclaimers
• Change Start-up Logo to M Logo
• Enable Xvid, OCG, and Xvcd Format Codecs for USB Video
• Enable Video in Motion for DVD/USB Playback
• Remove Speedlock Restriction for Mobile Office and User Manuals
• Enable B&O DSP Setting (Harmon Kardon Systems with Logic 7 only)

Drivetrain Features
• Start car in Eco Pro, Adaptive or Sport Driving Mode
• Auto Start/Stop System – Remember Last User Setting/Memory

Hmm okay. I am completely new to BMW, all I heard about was Bimmercode. So that is the co. I went with. If you can get different features from a different brand thats great. But I feel like not everyone knows about codemybimmer. And these options that you already mentioned should be avalble with BC shortly. So Im okay with waiting.

Except for anti dazzle and vld. These require a different type of coding that BimmerCode ist not working on implementing.

codemybimmer is not a coding tool. They're a company that provides a coding service done remotely.

Only thing I kind of wished that we can replace any ambient light preset not only the bronze one. I dont care for any of the white added.
