Fixed an outrageously tedious, persistent sticky ticky telegraph 'rattle' coming from the cupholder/charge-cubby area. I figured it was probably some fatal design flaw in surface interfaces because BMW still hates cupholders (E90, cough).

Center console lifts up easily.

Chased the source down to underneath the cupholder/cubby part. The cable feeding that forward USB port is a) made from kinda-sticky rubber b) is not wrapped in cloth like other cables and wires c) is guided around almost the entire width of the cupholder part with many stiff little plastic tabs and d) was pinched below one of the guide tabs it was supposed to be wrapped around. It's a NVH field day.

Solution: wrapped all the guide tabs in self-adhesive felt as well as the sticky wire wherever it might come in contact with anything along the way. Re-routed as it was supposed to be and with everything back together it's now dead quiet.

Main challenge and time-suck was dealing with lots of wires and the many little plugs underneath the console.

No modding, but I did give my new car its first wash today. Still waiting for the 718m wheels that should have been on the car to arrive from Germany....

Looking good Alex, how are you liking it compared to your 440i?

Thanks.

Different, but overall feels like a step up. Just posted on here, and in F30 UK Off Topic my first thoughts.

M Sport Plus pack & the electric folding towbar

Luckily for me the exact car was already on the ship on its way to the Uk so I should get it sometime mid November

The wait begins ...
Welcome Bristle Hound. There does seem to be a few people from ASN on here now.

Looking forward to your detailing tips again, you've helped me out on a few occasions.

Installed the VRSF catted downpipe.. thing was a pain! They have one design flaw.. the end of the downpipe that connects to the exhaust is actually the wrong angle degree. I understand why figment was a issue. We got it in though, took about 2.5 hours. Welding is a little amateur so I am expecting the welds to split by the time my lease is up. Car sounds perfect. Not too much louder than stock but lots of turbo noise. Here are some pics of the job!

My catted DP is smelling like catless.
Gonna be taking it back to the shop and have him look it over.

I went with the catted version but to be honest it isn't a true cat. Looks like they just put 2 separate screens on both ends and middle is hollow. No fumes as of yet. The fitment isn't the best so the turbo to downpipe may not be sealed correctly. Make sure they took the gasket off the stock dp and put it into the aftermarket.

LoL gasket...
Is this gasket between turbo and DP or DP and exhaust pipe?
The guy said he didnt see any gaskets. all he used were clamps.
Also what does this gasket look alike so I know if it's still stuck to my stock DP.

Also... VRSF cat is not truly a cat? So I basically paid for a catless DP with catted DP price that has less flow then catless DP?

Gasket is on the downpipe where it attaches to turbo. We started installing and noticed a small gap and found it on the stock downpipe and put it on then.

It is catted but not a true cat lol. It does get the fumes gone and quiet the car down slightly.

I think I found the gasket. It is sitting flush at the end of stock DP. How do I get it off?

I think most people use stick clay to just pull it out. My red button should be coming in and hopefully the sticky clay is included like some seller on amazon.

if you goto that link... scroll down and it shows the steps.

Got the red button in.
My order came with a suction cup thats attached to a ring to pull out the OEM button but the suction was not strong enough so I had to use a 3M molding tape on the suction cup to pull out it out. Very easy.

The suction cup is to use when installing the new button - makes it easier to hold and line up -- you are correct it doesn't have enough suction to remove the button.

Can you share the link to your red button from amazon? I found one seller that was popular on amazon that I was going to buy from but read one of question asked to the seller saying it didnt fit G01.
Also which wax did you order?
