I avoid valet, but I don't let anyone other than my wife drive my car. Also, I'm Jewish AF and refuse to pay for it so there is that.

If I have to valet, I use valet mode on the JB4.

I honestly do not remember the last time that I used a valet service. Not even for, say, the opera. Probably the last time I used one, the key fob hadn’t yet been invented. Cars may still have had carburetors.

As Already stated… prefer not to… usually attempt to always park myself these days.

If however it just makes sense to do so, then so be it. It’s not a Ferrari/Lambo… sooooo….

I did however valet wifeys LR for a trip last year at DFW airport, and it came back with a nice little ding in the lower passenger side rear q-panel… so there’s that.

My husband refuses to valet his M3, but it's more so because it's a manual. And even though many valets will tell you they know how to drive manual, we're always weary.
Reminds me of the time I had to move my own car at the BMW dealership to the service bay because the greeter at the service department couldn’t drive a manual. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Exactly. Which is why they won't give a crap how and where they drive and park yours. I'm ocd when it comes to dings and scratches. Happened once....never again if I can help it. Will always rent something if need be.

I hate valeting my cars, partially because I don't trust the valet kids even though its likely fine and also because I hate paying for simple things I can do on my own, like carrying my luggage up to my hotel room.

Depends on the hotel/accom. I've done this in London but only at like super f*cking expensive hotel (The Langham) where one would hope they kinda don't go for a blast ;-). I didn't think twice.

I get that. At 70 I still tote my own bags, etc. Basically "hands off" kids. I'm not in love with the idea of letting the valet park my car, but when it's either that or a street spot, especially in a crowded place like Newport, I'll take my chances.

Yes definitely better than a street spot. On one of my European deliveries we got to Salzburg and the only option at the hotel was an overly expensive valet had I think 50 or 75 dollars versus parking it on the street a quarter mile away. I was a little nervous valeting my two day old car.

I will do it at high end locations like restaurants and hotels. If it is an overnight stay in a hotel, I would prefer the attended valet lot to an unattended lot or garage open to the public. In those cases I'm more worried about a break in or an attempted steal than a joyride. With the app you can see where the car is and act if there is a problem. I also valeted at a hospital ER when my wife took a fall and we didn't want to search for parking. And yes I do valet for my 760 as well as the X3. Life is not without risks. What do you do when they need to road test after a repair? Or when my dealer delivers the car back to my house after service (as they have done occasionally)?

You went to an ER where they offered valet service? We don't offer that, nor would our clientele be able to or be interested in taking advantage of it.

Agree on the post repair tests and service returns. Driving to the dealer and waiting is a big hassle and the post repair test is basically unavoidable. Parking my own car is just a slight increased hassle.

Regardless; the Dahler ATT device (pedal commander + anti-theft) has valet mode capabilities. I doubt that you’d purchase and install simply for this upcoming trip though

Yes, there is but it only limits the max audio volume, blocks moving around the infotainment (so the valet can’t check your personal data or change settings) and blocks possibility to turn the DTC off.

I’ve never used it but I had assumed that you could severely limit the throttle with it or something to that effect

I installed the Dahler attc for the extended control settings for the pedal but am more than pleased with the addition of the anti-theft accelerator kill and the valet function.

I leave the anti-theft on 100% of the time as a preventative measure.

With the valet function, you can choose to reduce the sensitivity of the pedal to prevent joy rides or even someone unfamiliar who has a lead foot from over accelerating into any nearby objects.

Each time I've taken my car in for work on I've used the valet function just for peace of mind. It allows the vehicle to be functional enough for them to move in and out of the garage but if someone were to take it out for a spin they won't going anywhere quickly. I set it at 50% value and it really won't let you do any sort of spirited driving.

I never pointed out the feature when dropping it off, as it's really not their concern. I've gone in for tire mounting, spring installation, and alignments. None of which warrant anyone test driving my car.

Valet at Sarasota General Hospital ER a few years ago after my wife took a fall and needed stitches (stat as they say). Was I surprised? Yes. But it saved us a lot of time getting in to be checked out.
