21 X3MC rear tires wore significantly faster than fronts
My Conti OEM rear tires are almost toast with 16.5k miles, but the fronts seem less than half worn.
I know the diff biases power to the rear, but I was shocked at the difference. They also seem to have worn significantly more on the center tread than the outer, despite being diligent with pressure. Oh well - have the P4S 295's sitting ready to me mounted. Just curious if others have had similar wear observations. |

To get 16k out of the Continentals is pretty good. Clearly they just made the compound super soft to get the star spec rating/compete with the performance of the Michelin. Horrible tires.

I'm glad the dealership replaced my conti's with Hankook. After hearing how bad they are, I am glad I wont have to deal with them.

Like other said, it is a rear wheel drive bias car until it needs the fronts to kick in via the differential. I would expect the rears to wear faster, especially not being able to rotate front to back

A good rule of thumb is the fronts will last ~2x the rears.
Good if you have a tire brand you like, but if you want to change and match you end up replacing the semi-good fronts as well. I went through this with my E46 M3 - had the contis but couldn't justify replacing the perfectly good fronts so went with another set of contis for the rear. When my X3MC needs new rears, I will be going with PS4S all around. |

Thanks for the info guys.
I'm actually a BMW CCA HPDE instructor & my track car is 2018 Z06 with Pirelli slicks. Even my Cup 2 street tires on the Z06 do not wear at such different rates front to rear. I was just surprised. |

Conti's on my 2020 rear's were toast in 1200 miles.
on the 22 I decided to remove them and sell them immediately. Sold them for $400 (all 4) I had 2 clients that have seen premature wear in 700 miles on their 22 X3M's. IMG_7010 by Detailers Domain, on Flickr |

Did you do burn-outs and doughnuts? Either that or those must be defective tires assuming normal road driving. How did the front look? |
