2015 X3 Diesel Brake morning incident... HELP

Hi to everyone,

This morning my wife had a frightful incident brakes related.
She recalls seeing a white brake light in the dashboard soon before leaving for work early this morning. We live in cold Canada btw. Two blocks later she had a hard time stopping the car in a light,heard some screeching noise in the front brakes and barely stopped...
She thinks probably the system was frozen..!? Or part of the system?. She came back home no issues. She just remembers seeing the word brake in the dashboard white in color and a pedal icon!? She saw this warning for a split second...
Any help is truly appreciated

Use a proper scanner, (i.e. ista+) to check for stored codes.
