I admit it does not photograph well.
In person though...

It's a stunner.

Scott26, can you give us an overview of the F40 and how it stacks up against the outgoing F20?

Any plans to bring this to the US?

Add me to the list who think the grill (on most all new BMW's) are about as ugly as a Lexus. Just my taste and I'm sure BMW or anyone for that matter doesn't care what I like.

Honestly the only negative point (but not a small one though) is the change to FWD. Other than that it actually looks pretty good IMHO, even the grille is quite ok this time. I don't know what Mercedes or Audi currently offer more in this class (sure we have to wait for the new A3, I guess it will look better than the A class), of course despite the AMG and RS versions.

It's not THAT bad as long as I don't have to drive it.

Have you driven it? Is it really THAT bad?

I wouldn't go for this poor man's hatchback or the poor man's M car lol.

Doesn't change the fact that I think this brand should be building fun to drive cars across its whole lineup.

Just another FWD 4 pot MPV style hatchback. 1 series DNA is missing, no USP. Interiour looks superb but it's now an ugly faced plump generic fwd with less power, less torque and the RWD replaced by a FWD system that only sends power to the rear when needed by a nanny system that cannot be controlled by the driver. ( outgoing F20 M140i X drive sends 60 % to rear) This F40 M135i is not a real M light car. But the price is premium ! WTF, one may as well buy a Kia for a lot less as this is not anything that I would remotely consider replacing my F20 with!

Seriously ugly minivan, no 6 cylinder motor, not RWD so why name it a 1 series, a 135i, an M light? But hey it has extra space for tampons and a big screen for millennials.

Plump minivan styling compared to the outgoing F20 , the F40 generic POS has no pedigree.

Configurator live on the Norwegian site as well, with different packages than in the German site: https://www.bmw.no/no/ssl/configurator.html#/F40/esl/
