2013 BMW X3..oil pressure light
Two weeks after my oil change, brake flush, etc. at the dealership, I was running to the store when my oil pressure light came on, after about 4 minutes of driving. Is it possible that they missed something while they worked on my car? I have not driven it since. I am waiting for it to be evaluated.

Few things that pop off in my head are bad oil pressure sensor, which I have not really seen anybody report to be honest. Or they didn't fully top off the oil after the oil change. Or you have a major oil leak.

Seeing as you need to have the car running at operating temperature to check the level, I do not recommend he check the level. Especially if it is low on oil. In order to confirm if you were low on oil would be to drain and measure the amount of oil that was drained.

Welcome to the forum...
If the oil was low, there should have been a low oil warning displayed. Is the engine a 4 cyl? If so, the timing chain tensioners may have broken and are clogging the oil pickup Is the OP still here to reply to the questions, recommendations and advice? |

Oil Pressure light update
As it turns out, the timing chain jumped and caused the low oil pressure notification. Apparently it has been a known defect in the 2012-2015 X3 and was the subject of a class action suit recently that i knew nothing about. Have had my car serviced at BMW of Catonsville since 2017 and they never revealed there was an issue. After further research, I found an actual recall in 2013-2014 because of the same issue but apparently my vehicle was not fixed. My car is 1,000 miles over the settlement mileage covered and BMW decline to assist in any way. I had no idea BMW was such a bad customer service company. I love my car but do not have $10,000 to fix her.
Has anyone else experienced this with the X3? How did you resolve it? Last edited by Missbo99; 07-27-2021 at 06:04 AM.. |
