For those of you concerned about cutting exhaust and install complexity, this IS going to be a bit more work than the RG mid pipe. The RG pipe requires only one cut (per pipe), and because of where the cut is, it can be made while the stock midpipe and muffler are on the car, so you don't have to remove the rear V or the stock muffler to get the RG pipe installed.

The Dinan resonator delete requires you to cut the midpipe in TWO places (per pipe), plus you must cut the brace that joins the two stock cats. If you have not cut your stock exhaust at all prior to this, you could cut the rear section while still on the car, but because you have other work to do it may make more sense to drop the entire system as Dinan describes in the install instructions.

Because I have already cut my stock midpipe for the RG, and gone back to stock, I will effectively have less to drop or cut while doing the install for the Dinan res delete.

I plan on doing a video of the install and the cutting that is required when I get the res delete next week.

I wonder how the ER mid-pipe + this DINAN X-pipe would sound together.

You would have to cut the ER pipe to incorporate the two.

Yes indeed. I know the H-pipe + the X-pipe would be a touch redundant. But wondering what the combination may sound like in terms of overall tone.

I still have my RG/ER pipe sitting around but it's too pretty to cut. Only a monster could do it.

If anyone is on the fence -- stock exhaust works excellent with this kit.

Not notably louder than stock (which is already loud enough IMO), but exhaust note sounds much less restricted on throttle now. May mostly be attributed to the S58 platform, I haven't been this impressed with a resonator delete in a long time though. Especially for a force induction engine.

Installed mine today. Definitely more work than the ER pipe, but not too bad. In efficient mode I can't tell the difference between stock and this when driving lightly. If I give it some throttle in efficient I can barely tell it's louder, but the exhaust sounds smoother. Like a proper inline 6. In sport+ it's louder than stock but not by a ton. WAAAAY more quiet than the ER. But for a car like this it seems proper. Overall very impressed.

Here's a teaser. Full install and review still processing on YouTube servers.

Sounds nice and refined. Much more healthy sounding in the mid to upper RPM ranges. I love the smooth warm sound of a properly built X-pipe and it's a superb exhaust note. Looking forward to you posting that install video you created soon.

It WAS the stock non-comp muffler. I say was because the car was totaled today. My wife and kids were driving home from school and they got creamed by a Jeep with a bully bar. Everyone is mostly ok. But I won't be able to give any long-term updates lol.

Sorry to hear this. Your X3 M base sounds pretty wicked. Cars can be replaced but people can't. Glad they're okay although probably a bit rattled.

WOW sorry to hear that jeebus. Glad everyone is OK.

Well… soon enough I'll have the exhaust setup and can contribute my own videos.

Ooof, that sucks. Sorry to hear that. At least everyone walked away which is of course the most important thing. Hopefully insurance gets you squared away sooner rather then later.

Thanks. Assuming I get another X3 M, I'll do another X pipe! The towing company started the vehicle and said "wow this sounds really good!"

Thats both amusing and mildly infuriating at the same time. Its like "thanks for the compliment.... and rubbing it in that I no longer have it at the same time." lol

But it was barely louder than stock in comfort mode. Is that true for this setup? Assuming it's all Dinan: Dinan X-pipe for resonator delete, and Dinan axleback/muffler.

I like that I can make it loud when I want to, but having a really subdued volume / aggressiveness for comfort was key for me. I don't want loud all the time.
Was the resonance you experienced with the midpipe fixed by the x pipe?
