Tune wise there is the JB4 and the Race Chip, then there are some things out there from Europe but they are not cheap. I can get a Tune out of Switzerland to make 690 HP but it's over 3K . The exhaust they have available is another 4K. I think the Resonator delete pipe would be a hit with the owners. There are multiple threads on how to get the exhaust sounding better. Not sure that they would ever reach the 50 units every 60 days need.

Bravo to Dinan for actually having a shippable product upon announcement. Too many companies make a stink about products they don't intend on shipping for weeks.

I've had the F90 version on my car for a week now, and for the price, it's excellent. The sound has improved nicely over the week and is just right now. No drone that I can hear. Obviously a different platform, so ymmv. Highly recommended!
Btw, I ordered months ago when the supply chain was at its worst, and I think I got it in under a week. Nice work there.

Do you have an audio sample installed on a regular X3M (non-comp)?
Highly considering it!

Any option to pay extra to get tip in carbon fiber? Or any alternative parts out there that is a suitable replacement for those stainless steel tips? Thanks

If not I'll get one up. Ordered today. I had the rg midpipe on my non comp and it had some unwanted resonance in a few load areas. Gonna see how this goes...

This is an interesting product as I just purchased the RG mid pipe and waiting for it to arrive. As far as I can tell, the Dinan product only removes the resonator and leaves the secondary cat in place. You still need to make cuts, you just cut out less of the stock exhaust.
Pros and Cons as I see them... Labor should be about the same for both products. Dinan costs $450, RG mid pipe costs $1200. Both products lighter than factory, louder than factory, produce more HP than factory, less restrictive/higher flow than factory. RG will be louder as you are removing secondary cats. For the same reason, RG will also flow better, will produce more HP and will be lighter than the Dinan product. It is also more than double the price. $1200 vs $450. Labor to install both should be about the same. Both need the same amount of cutting. It is a great way to remain compliant (if you are concerned about that) and save about $750. It should be less loud than the RG and certainly improves the sound over stock. Neither product will throw a CEL warning as the secondary cats are not monitored and the muffler and primary cats remain in place. |

H vs X - Generally speaking an H elicits a deeper muscle car tone between the two . An X on the other hand is more commonly associated with a more exotic sound and promotes a more even flow so sounds related to pulsing are reduced. In the case of of the X3M both are removing the same resonator so offer essentially the same advantage to overall volume enhancement. Secondary Cats - If cats are deleted you automatically increase volume as a relatively large restriction is being removed. Those cats are essentially acting as another resonator so chances of adding a drone that your ears may notice goes up as well although everyone's tolerance and senstivity differ so mileage may vary there. Then there is the emissions laws to contend with in some areas when removing cats so that is a consideration for some as well (CA). Depending on the back section and how it was designed to perform there are nearly infinite permutations that can effect sound in various ways (volume, tone, drone, backpressure, etc), but from a strictly volume approach the ranking from quiet to loud would be: Stock, Resonator Delete, Axleback, Axleback+Resonator Delete, Axleback+Full Mid-Pipe. From a Dinan perspective we leave the bulk of the tone changes to be achieved by the axleback/muffler instead of further upstream (we prefer the deep and throaty sound like most). The mid's /resonator deletes are designed with volume enhancement in mind and evening out the tone (refinement of the sound). |

Better jump on these asap they'll be back ordered soon. They're struggling hard these days to keep up with production of their exhaust products.
