OOF! Hopefully the DS didn't cause a lot of damage, I've heard it can be pretty rough

I did a search and couldn't find anything specific, how hard is it to get the bolt out and replace it? Is anything in the way?

I meant I searched the forum and didn't find anything. No need for the snark.

Also, according to that video, you need to drop everything including the exhaust just to remove the bolt? Seems like you just need to do that if you are also changing the bushing, which isn't what I asked.

I didn’t get a chance to have mine installed as well and I am on the fence too.

Could others out there with Einhorn bushing replacement only, chime in please.

I have the Einhorn Bushing only. As others have said, diff whine is inevitable but nothing some music / exhaust notes can't drown out. No weird behaviors or vibrations that I've experienced. Have done 2 HPDEs at Summit Point. Everything felt tighter / more stable / more planted in my opinion.

I haven't done the locktite fix for the splines yet tho.

I know on the x3m40 you can replace the bolt without dropping the exhaust.

Is there anyway you can record the noise from inside the cabin with everything off (chimes, music, etc)? Trying to get a sense of how bad is the whine.

Thanks!

Sorry bout the snark, didnt come off right. Some people have said on the purchase thread that you dont need to fully drop the exhaust, just enough to leave it dangling and support it by the muffler.

The bolt is removed and the entire OE bushing is pressed out. The dude also shows that on the long video.

Yeah I'm not looking to change the bushing, just thinking of preventative maintenance, replace the bolt myself once or twice a year if it's easy. I'll take a look under today.

I’d try once a month depending on how you drive the car. The bending happens so quick and sudden.

I had weird vibrations that seemed to feel like fuel cutting out at 3k rpm in 2nd gear for 0.5 seconds on acceleration and similar in third gear at lower RPM. This was nerve-wracking and so took it to the stearlership who suggested a fluid change in the Tcase and front diff oil. Not surprised that this didn't fix the problem so the next step in finding the cause was to replace the OEM bushing back in. This fixed all the issues that I had with clunking and NVH and the acceleration vibration. BMW did not apply the spline fix again which was done initially before the Einhorn. No spline clicks or clunk was apparent with the new OEM rear bushing after the Einhorn was pulled out. I ordered the VTT full lockdown kit and a JXB carrier. The NVH is marginal - not audible with music on soft volume or with windows. Both solutions had diff whine which you can't escape. If I was to compare the different configurations I'd say that OEM is best for stock cars if you're not launching etc (mine was stock but bushing collar was worn and visible bolt thread marks were cutting into it). If you're running stage 1 or 2 and the car is a daily, the VTT full lockdown kit and JXB add about 10-15% more NVH than stock. The Einhorn (in my opinion) is over engineered for a daily car but have no doubt its just as strong if not stronger than the VTT kit for really high HP cars. The Einhorn re-introduced loud clunk which was easily audible even with music on, windows down and my akra catback open valves and vibration was too much for me. If running really high HP, I'd suggest to just install the einhorn and perhaps the VTT front bushing inserts, tcase bushing as well as a JXB centre carrier to be sure but adding the VTT diff brace wouldn't hurt too much more from a NVH perspective.
I have the exact same issues after installing the einhorn mount. Tried to solve one problem, and created a couple of new ones.

I have Ryan's kit sitting in my garage, I'll try installing that with the 2 front mounts.

If there's still clicking, I'll be ripping everything out and going back to stock

Placing AshtonPJT 's image next to mine (after overlaying for proper scaling), suggests roughly 1-1/2" is where both show a common line of contact discoloration.

I’d assume most of you would be okay with Vargas hard tie down mount instead of messing with the bushings

This is kind of what I'm leaning toward. Though I don't mind diff whine - My Subaru is all poly/delrin bushings so it sounds like a straight cut transmission, I'd still prefer to keep it quieter. I don't even hear it anymore, but my passengers do LOL

It would be nice to know how the front and rear bushing inserts are with regard to noise/movement.

From my understanding is they don’t add much noise

Ordered the VTT. Have had the Einhorn sitting in a drawer for a while but never quite felt it was the right solution. The VTT sounds like the right approach for everyone but serious dragsters.

Agree with this. Einhorn on my desk, looking for another solution and the VTT seems like the way to go for a truck that won't be launched all the time. Edit - can't risk it, don't want to deal with the results of a bolt failure so just ordered the VTT insert, i'll start there and add the brace if deemed nec.

Both the solid and VTT kit do add noise. The diff whine is quite apparent with both.
