For those tracking, making good progress on the 0Z0 M40's. Latest one showing up is 3208, a lovely Glaciersilber/Mokka combo.

Not knocking anyone for buying one, but I really can't understand why you would get a screen protector unless you're afraid your nails are so long that you're going to be scratching the hell out of it?
Help me understand why I might want one...my first thought is that the screen protector might just give you an odd glare while not really offering any real tangible benefit. It's not like it's your phone where you're taking it out and throwing it on a table every single day. |

Why not use this as an opportunity to improve your habits so when your children learn to drive they don't pick up bad habits. I know this is not the best place to be a turn signal preacher...but it would be nice if when I'm in Orlando next month to not see any M40i's changing lanes without using a signal. Sorry for the rant.

Thanks. I do need to get a trunk mat -- will probably go with the BMW one or WeatherTech.

I had a 430 Gran Coupe and it was the same way -- real pain to get out of. I'm 6'1" and the driver's seat back was well aft of the B-pillar so it felt like I needed a winch to get out. My next car was a 430 2DR coupe and I appreciated the longer doors -- could practically just flop sideways and fall out of that one. The X3 is somewhere in the middle. The taller height and more upright seating position make it a lot nicer to deal with.

Well if you have issues with glare you can use a screen protector get anti-glare protection and a matte finish

I'm going to have to go see the dealer on Monday. The code came coded to roll down all the windows I'd unlock is held down and I must have sat on the key. Looked outside and all my windows are down. Not good in Florida. Any ideas what else can be coded on the key? I'd prefer that holding down buttons doesn't do anything and hopefully something that can make the trunk button require something fancy to work. Anyone know?

I'd agree with you, but this thread is already so far gone that it's easier to keep all the related stuff in one place at this point. Sorry if that offends you.

I'm just thinking about newcomers, who will try to search some relevant information about pricing and end up with this. But I understand, that it's easier to just continue here.

Based on that, I moved forward and have my custom order submitted !!! Just wait these long weeks to get my hand on my new 2019 X3. If my math is good, I'm ending with 15.3% discount of MSRP. |

Is this correct? They removed the trunk storage compartment cover hydraulic assist? Boy, the beancounters must be trying to recoup some money from putting the M sport wheel in the 19's. Just plain ridiculous.

UPDATE (21 Aug 2018): I just took delivery today although the paperwork is not completed so I don't actually own the vehicle. There were 1.7 miles on it. I am to drive the vehicle 300 miles and return it to the dealer where they perform some prestidigitation called "punching to demo". We complete the paperwork, including the 0.9% financing and I own the vehicle. I assume what happened is that I took the vehicle "on approval" for an extended test drive, just as one might do with a demo vehicle. After 300 miles, the dealer can claim it as a demo which for some reason qualifies it for the low APR. I can't help but believe that there is some monetary advantage to the dealer that I don't know about in doing it this way. Perhaps someone can explain exactly what is happening here. Me too. The 2018 X3 is the first suv I've ever owned that had the assist strut for the lower cargo cover. It's a small thing but it's nice that it holds that large cover from crashing down on your arms when I'm digging around in there.
I wonder if the bracket and strut from the 2018 would be able to be installed on the 2019? Last edited by BobsM3Coupe; 08-17-2018 at 07:02 PM.. |

I bet, if I do take delivery (still undecided) of the 2019, I'll find that when compared to my 2018, other things will also have been deleted. Last edited by BobsM3Coupe; 08-17-2018 at 07:05 PM.. |

Status: "At the Dealership" - But it's not!
FYI to those interested:
Yesterday, Thursday 16th August, the status of my 2019 X3 xDrive30i was "awaiting carrier assignment". That was the second day it had been at that status. Today, 17th August, the status is "at the dealership". I called my CA and was told that it hadn't arrived yet and that the ETA was Monday, 20th August. He said that sometimes when a vehicle leaves the factory, the status incorrectly changes to "at the dealership". I ordered the vehicle on 17th July. "Entering assembly line" occurred on 13 August. Status had been at "production begins" for about two weeks prior to that. I saw none of the statuses intermediate to those I've mentioned. My dealer is in the Dallas-Ft Worth, Texas, USA area. On order: 2019 xDrive30i Dark Graphite Metallic/Black Vernasca Leather (I know, but I LIKE dark colors ) Luxury Line Executive Package Premium Package Convenience Package Luxury Package Driving Assistance Package Driving Assistance Plus Package Harmon Kardon surround sound Front ventilated seats Rear manual side window shades Runflat tires Last edited by CPRitter; 08-17-2018 at 07:57 PM.. I see in your photo a rectangular area where the strut base would mount to the cover like it is on the 2018. I don't see any mounting screws that would attach the strut base to the cover on my 2018. Maybe it just gets pressed into the cover?
Below are 2 photos showing where the parts are located on the 2018's. I don't see the small hole in the cargo trunk floor where the small pin would go through to attach to the body of the vehicle. Maybe the hole is still under the cargo trunk floor to place the blind rivet nut and ball pin so the gas spring can attach to it? |
