Michellin Pilot Sport vs. Continental DW06
I'm going to need new all season tires when I take off my winter tires. I've decided to get all season instead of just summer tires in case I decide to sell or trade my X3. So I've come down to two choices and both are non-runflat.
CONTINENTAL EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 or Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ Both have a load rating of 1653lb per tire which I think should be good enough. i've been happy with my Michellin winter tires so I'm leaning towards the 3+ A/S. I don't have any experience with Continental but reviews in the forum are positive. Any comments as to the characteristics of each tire mated to the X3 35i. I like driving quick and moderately aggressive but not a race track person. Thanks for any feedback. |

UPDATE
Hi - I live in FL and really need a good all season tire for the huge rainfalls we get in the south. I had the Michelin's and they're OK, but now running BF Goodrich G-Force Conmp-2 A/S Z rated. Awesome tire, very sticky and never hydroplane... Not familiar with the Continental's, but hear good things.

I've had the BF Goodrich Comp tires before and wasn't that happy with them. It's been a long time and can't remember why but it may have something to do with either noise or wear.

Just got my X3 CPO, has these on it: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...e+Position+RFT
I'm pretty happy with them, they handle the corners well and grip better than I expected. Releasing from the road seems to be pretty gradual and easy to feel and they aren't the least bit noisy when driving hard. Better than I expected. Might be one to consider as well. Tire Rack is also a pretty good source of reviews and you can pull up and compare tires. |

I just did the same thing, put some all seasons on after the winter tires on my x3 35i. I went with the pilot sport a/s 3+. Comparing them with the dws, both reviews and tirerack tests, the pilot sports seemed to be a little better in handling and road noise. So far I like them much better than the OEM run flats. The ride is a little less harsh and a slight improvement in handling. I am happy with them

If you have them, and don't like them, that makes sense. But BTW they are all-season. You said you wanted to go with all seasons instead of summer-only, and that's what these are.

I wish that I had given more attention to the tires on the cars at the BMW Performance Center at the factory in Greer. I remember that they were Contis, but I didn't look to see which model.

I have DWS06, they perform well on any kind of weather. If you have stagger setup the rears wear out faster. Im on my 2nd set with close to 30k.

AS3+ has an edge in Dry Performance
DWS06 hands down in Rain and Snow I've had both in my current car and in the past I always had DWS as well.

Like FSociety said, DWS if you're expecting heavy rain and some snow. Living in Colorado and having used both tires, although on different BMW's, it's a no brainer for the DWS. I felt the AS3's were a better dry tire.

Which tire is a better cold weather tire? I don't put my winter tires on until around beginning of December and take them off around mid April so there is still some colder weather that I will have them on for.

Continental DWS is best tire in bad weather
I have had the Continental DWS tires on my 2004 3330CI coupe and my current 2006 325xi. I love the all season capability of this tire. Very good in the snow and rain.
On my 330CI, I was doing over 80MPH in heavy rain on I80 with no concerns. The Tire Rack reviews say the Michelin has better times on the test track and is more aggressive. So, it really depends on your real world environment. If you live where it snows and rains a lot, go with the DWS. WALLYF |

I had the conti’s on my X3 before I traded it in, was able to remove them before trade in and now have them for sale.

Since I have a set of winter tires, I purchased the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+. So far they seem fine. Thanks for all the input. If I was just going to go with a single set of all-season's, I probably would have gone with the DWS.
