unbolt engine bay brace above intake box unscrew and remove sensor from intake pipe loosen air box from intake pipe grab intake box and pull strait up (it will take some force) and remove loosen clamp at mid point of intake pipe and remove, note the silencer box has the same rubber mounts as the intake box and you need to pull strait up as well. you can remove the silencer first if you like. test fit the shield into the intake box area. it'll go to the outside of the car of the little heat shielding. the piece that sticks out to the front of the car on the new heat shield may or may not line up with anything, mine does not. I had to remove the plastic cover on that side of the front, loosen the two bolts holding the metal trim piece over the radiator, and then wedge the lil clip area of the new heat shield under it where the one bolt goes in. it'll make sense when you line it up. on the back side of the heat shield you will see where the lower attachment point will cross over one of the rubber mounting lugs from the stock air box. press the metal cone piece into the rubber lug. then line it up with the hole to make sure it'll fit. I had to slightly bend part of my stock aluminum heat shield to properly align the MST heat shield. then remove the heat shield. test fit the new intake pipe into the stock lower pipe and make sure it lines up and is not making contact with anything. then remove pipe. I had to refit the heat shield at this point and snug it down to the front cover bolt and rear lower lug but still allow movement, then feed the upper intake pipe through the hole in the heat shield to mate to the lower intake pipe. snug down the clamps but allow a little play. attach the filter to the upper tube but allow some play test fit the heat shield top cover to see if it fits right. I had to change the angle of the pipe and the angle the filter to clear the top plate. once aligned then tighten down the intake pipe to lower pipe first, then make sure the filter didn't raise up in the process and tighten it down. attach the top plate to heat shield and fit snug against the fender walls, then tighten down the front and rear bolt and screw to secure the heat shield in place. finally reinstall the intake sensor to the pipe. then finish with replacing the trim piece and engine brace bar. I might be slightly off, but this is from memory several weeks ago. There might be more clear directions, but this is what I did to make it work without having a guide or instructions

No CEL. Generally speaking, you should never see a CEL on an air intake unless it's been incorrectly installed.
It's a nice intake, relatively "sealed" but that's a bit of a misnomer. Just hope they send you the correct one. I ordered mine from another vendor and it shipped direct from MST. They sent me a Supra kit, and it took about 3 months to get the correct one, to the point I thought MST had stiffed me. |
