Garage List
275/40-20 can be on all 4 corners if you use 9.5" wide wheels on all 4 corners. I got replicas of the rears to put up front to run a square setup with 18mm spacers. though i'm running MPS4s not all seasons.

Same thing happened on me. I changed two front tires recently. I think the problem is 20inch wheels. I don't see that 21inch have this issue.

Front tyre wear is going to be an issue for me I reckon. In 7 months I've covered a massive 1,500 miles... The outer edges of the fronts are roughed up. Not a good sign.

Same here. I have 20" rims and the front tires are toast with 10k miles. Rears looks pretty good.

which psi or tire pressure do you guys use? the psi recommended by iDrive (if you have TPMS readers) or by the sticker on your driver seat?

So far One month I have only driven less than 700km due to coronavirus and job keeper.
What pressure do you guys use?

I suggest 35-36PSI.

PSI recommendations trend upward based on how fast you'll be driving. 80 mph? Probably 32 psi. 120? ~36. 140? 42, et cetera*.

*Just examples, use official recommendations.

Some of this fast wear is simply due to basic physics. A performance SUV, driven with enthusiasm is fighting it's high centre of gravity and greater weight transfer, than say a sedan. You pay to play!

Tire pressures are more critical than most first consider, to get the tire wear vs. the performance balance in the best place. Plus where you drive will have a major impact on wear rates. If you drive with many roundabouts and junctions, outer front and inner rear wear will be much higher than the guy on the highway all day.

I read some of the pressures being used, see them much too low for a performance SUV.

I need to try 35 vs my current 33-34. I can't help thinking that the roughing up of the outer edges of the fonts is related to crabbing/skipping I get on 3/4 to full lock in cooler temps. Akermann geometry and LSD being the culprits. In much warmer weather I don't sense a "skip" - no doubt because the tyre grips better. The skipping surely damages the tread, whether there is a damaging twisting too in warmer weather...could be the case..
