Operating Temp and Sport Plus
Hey all - how long does it take your X3M to come to “operating temp”, or the middle of the oil temp gauge (210f)? This has been my first time having the vehicle during winter time, and on my 20-25min commute, I still don’t usually reach 210. Outside temps in nashville are usually in the 30’s, and my car is garaged.
Must we wait to run the vehicle in sport plus engine until we reach that 210 mark? Or can we run that mode while warming up, while not driving it hard? Basically, I’m tired of having to stay in efficient every day during my winter commute.

The vehicle is safe to rev up to the rev counter limit, this is exactly why the limit moves as the vehicle warms up.
However personally I still wait a bit longer, until the temp reaches about 165-170. On my daily commute which is 15-20 mins each way, it barely reaches that temp in the winter. |

Yes when you start it cold the redline will be around 5000 or so depending on oil temp. It then gradually increases as oil temp goes up. I'm not sure if that's a hard limit and it actually will limit revs or if it's just a warning, so to speak. I'm not about to test it |

They've been doing this for a long time. Even on old school clusters they did it with LEDs.
