Radar detector and gesture control
Everything I'm reading says that gesture control will cause false alerts with radar detectors mounted under the rear view mirror. Has anyone found a way around this other than to put a piece of tape over the sensor? Could gesture control be coded off? I'm not really keen on using electrical tape in my car but I will if I have to.

I heard that V1 Gen. 2 configure able to ignore the gesture control.
I personally took apart the overhead light and unhook the laser module, because even with tape or disabling it, still giving me false alarm kn V1 Gen. 1.

Ive been using a Radenso Pro M mounted to the right of the mirror with no issues with gesture control (and it has great filtering of radar emitted from other cars).
Its also really small and Im a big fan of the on/off switch on the plug instead of on the unit itself. Id highly recommend. |

Now leaning towards mounting the detector above the mirror and towards the drivers side with a permanent mount right on the windshield edge. I'm assuming in that spot there would be no interference since the detector is above the gesture beams?

I had a v1 that alarmed constantly. Switched to escort max 360 which has had no issues for a year. I still use a valentine in other cars, but I do like the escort remembering the fixed radar signals (like store doors) and not responding in the x3m.

Yeah I used some blue scotch tape. Had to go about 3 layers tho until I didn't get any more false positives.

I like the v1 gen2 in my weekend car as Im usually out of the city so when the detector goes off, I really pay attention, and there arent really any fixed signals where Im driving. If I had to pick just one though, Id probably go with the v1 gen2 due to the simplicity of it, and it gets my attention better for some reason. (This assumes that the v1 gen2 is not alarming due to the gesture control that is in the x3m which is why I originally bought the max 360c since the v1 gen1 was constantly alarming due to gesture control.) |

Thank you so much for the reply. So my g80cx is my one and only daily car and was leaning on the escort 360c because I heard it was just a more simplistic device actually, that's not the case with you? I love gesture control on my and wouldn't want to compromise that out of my daily drive either but for sure am tossed up about which one is "better" for me through the busy city of San Diego since this car pulls so easily |
