Ultimate Care + and service

Hi all, curious the thoughts on the additional plans that are offered?

I've heard they can be reasonable if they are talked down. Has anyone had success here?

I'm purchasing with an intent on owning for at least 5 years.

There is minimal profit here to talk them down on the product. $150 on lower end plans and $800~ on higher end.

If you keep the car and it goes through pads AND rotors, it is worth it. That's the big money item.

Put the $$s you would spend on this monthly in a savings account set aside for your car repairs, and keep your money.

If you don't need it, it's yours... If you sell the car, you have the $$s.

Here is a past discussion with some good info on wholesale cost and dealer contacts that will sell at a discount

On American cars there are huge margins on extended warranty’s and maintenance services. Can’t says it’s that way for BMW but generally extended service/warranty’s are big cash makers for dealers.

IMO buying a maintenance plan is the biggest waste of money. Just get your parts from FCP Euro and have a independent shop do the work

I purchased my 2020 F97 with 9,000 miles and it went in for its first oil change last week. I opted for a BMW dealership as I needed the front license plate bracket installed. To my surprise, after service the advisor said it was no charge as this car has a pre paid maintenance plan for 5 years. Everything I am reading these plans DO NOT transfer to a new owner??? I smiled politely and said thanks, but what is the truth?

should be covered for 3 years, unless you signed paperwork to transfer the POs plan.

I don't believe they get transferred by default though? It is entirely possible it was rolled in by your sales rep when you bought it. The plans can be transferred (at pretty much any time if it's still valid) if you buy it used and the previous owner had it on the vehicle, but there is a fee.

Correct. My dealer waived the $100 fee ($40 @ dealer cost) to transfer the remaining maintenance plan to my name through 9/30/22, I would assume the same would apply if it had a longer life remaining on the plan. I'm not complaining as it got me fresh air filters and spark plug service.

Great news thanks and they’re already pushing that 15,000 mile spark plug service.

I never got why they push the spark plug service so early. Mine was done at 11k miles. This does not seem normal to me but OK. Hopefully it's not like this every 11k miles to have the plugs changed or that can get expensive over time.
