Protective Film at New Build Delivery - Anyone ask the dealer to keep it on?

This question is likely just for all the OCD M owners out there. Curious if you asked the dealer to keep as much of the protective film on the car since you were planning on getting it PPF'd and whether the dealer accommodated. I wonder if they are required to remove some of it to do their own QC. Perhaps this is not even a good idea since you'd like to inspect the car for any defects before signing the papers.

Well it's really up to you. Whenever I buy new vehicle, I make sure to tell them I want all the protective film on it and to not wash the car. I tell them to do the normal PDI bit leave everything else. I never ran into an issue where there were major defects that needed to be addressed. If you want, you can tell them to remove it, but not to wash the vehicle.

I drove my car home with the white film on it. I did not want dealer washing it. In retrospect with the paint issues these cars have, I’m not sure I would do it again. Taking the film off the hood was a nail biter. If you take the film off and paint comes with it, you’re SOL. Tough choice to make I guess.

This. I had them remove external film only. I drove it right home, prepped, and applied a ceramic. Turned out great.

I had them remove it for this reason. I just drove it right to the detailer for paint correction and ceramic. Turned out great.

I know I have seen the paint peeling issue regards to the 2020s. Are there still paint issues on the 2022s??
