I've driven the X3m pre LCI on track and an autocross... I can concur that it being an SUV, you can chase some cars down and find some apexes- it's a pretty epic for what it is... but it's still an SUV.

Lol the X5 feels so big to me. My mom also has an X5 40 M sport. She's been driving X5s for 15 years and to her X5 will always be superior to X3, regardless of spec. She doesn't care for the performance/handling chops of the M division so rejected my suggestion for an X3M once her lease is due this summer.

She does agree with me that the steering and overall handling dynamics of the G05 are lousy, but otherwise loves the car.

As someone who owns both, to suggest to your own mother that she goes from an X5 40i to an X3M is just abusive.

He's not wrong with his review. The suspension is the achilles heel when I had mine and have continued to say that. They should just do what the M2 Comp did, make a CS and make it a more adjustable suspension (as far as comfort) and I wouldn't hesitate to get another X3M

I like SavageGeese videos but his driving impressions are worthless in his reviews.

He praised the interior and overall performance but knocked it for the price. Its basically $80k with Comp pack if you don’t too crazy on tech options and frozen color.

Also these people need to stop comparing it to a Macan which has completely useless rear seats and is much smaller overall. Plus similarly equipped its at least $25k more.

I have M40i with 20in staggered setup and the ride is stiff but not harsh and i drive in NYC. If I’m buying the “Competition” model, I expect that the ride will not be soft especially on 21in wheels.

I'm clearly just projecting my own desires onto her lol. X5s are so common, everybody has one, and I don't find them (at least in 40i configuration) to be particularly fun-to-drive. Then you have the X3M which remedies all of that: a bespoke M car, available in cool colors, that's super fun-to-drive. For the performance and engineering you are getting, I'd say the price is very fair.

It’s a great car. It’s just not your typical soccer mom’s Tahoe. A real, raw M car. After two years of owning, still love mine.

My short drive in an X3MC, on MI roads that are well below average nationally, it didn't seem too stiff to me. In comfort mode I found it a little more forgiving than my buddy's AMG E63 S.

lol .. I think Mark should have reviewed the pre-lci video prior to making the lci vid .... I have counted at least 10 contradictions when comparing pre-lci and lci vids. Jack however, is fairly consistent with his appraisal of both

If I remember, on the first review they got really hung up on the premise of "why does this car exist" and it kind of set a negative tone for the whole review.

Alot of times... reviewers that are "old school" cannot grasp the direction buyers are headed and where the money is. Porsche owners and reviewers were once and some.may still be in that realm...

When these cars are delivered / serviced the tire pressure is set to the greater than 100mph values of 38/44 and I believe thats the value they are set at when most of these guys do their road tests. Thats fine for the track but most of them are they are testing them on the street and should reduce the tire pressure to the less than 100mph value of 33/38. The less than 100 value improves the ride quality of my 2022 X4M Comp to a level my wife says is fine with the Continental tires. If these reviewers reduced the tire pressure to the less than 100mph value I bet their observations on ride quality would be very different.

If you still don’t like the ride you can opt for the Michelin 4S OM Star rated tires. Some posters have said they offer a better ride quality over the Continental’s. Other posters switched to the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 All Season UHP tires that come standard on the new Corvette and Macan. If they are good enough for them they should be fine for the X3/4 M Competition.

Coming from an F80 with a HAS kit, I'm able to tolerate a sporty ride. However, even with star rated 4S's and lower pressures similar to what you suggest, it was still too stiff for me especially at lower speeds. The X3M is oversprung (especially in the rear) and it's hard to overcome that with tires/tire pressures alone.

I am running 38/40 Contis on my Lci , just over a month now since I picked up, and circa 500 of the 1200 done in running in.
I have to say Comfort mode for me is actually comfortable, quite surprised really given the abominations they pass for roads over here.
I would go as far as saying my X3MC is as comfortable in Comfort mode as was my F32 440i MSport, and way more compliant and tolerant of non compliant irregular (F*cked up) road surfaces than the M2.
Not had a single pot hole hit , that has hit with a bang and transferred into the cabin, nothing more than a reassuring thud/ping of the tyre(s) on contact/impact.
Drop into M1 (Sport for all settings apart from Steering which I leave in Comfort), I still find the X3MC surprisingly compliant and not overly firm when driving on my daily roads.
Thus far I could not be happier

I had a 2020 X4MC with MSS Springs installed and was running 265 and 295 Michelin PS4S.That set up was really comfortable in all driving modes and the car was compliant when you hit any dip in uneven road surfaces.
I am now driving a LCI X3MC with continental tires(did not hit the tire lottery)and I must say it is as comfortable and compliant as my X4MC with MSS.
They have definitely improve the suspension on the LCI.That just my personal opinion from owning Pre LCI ,LCI and X4 M40 cars.
