I have got a new x3, I had to wait a few weeks because it was at the docks etc, I got it Friday, checked the door vin and has a date of Sept 2018,
is the dealer tell me the truth, or has is been stored some where until it was sold. what's the average delivery time for X3 after build, thanks

I got mine 23rd Feb and my build date is July 2018 so no idea if it was stored somewhere until sold, but given the spec I would of thought it would of sold quite easily.

Ordered 4th July 2018
Built 1st Oct 2018
Delivered Jan 2019

Think the delay / long wait on mine was primarily due to the new requirement to fit EGR to petrol engines.

Sounds a long time, they may have storage near docks I suppose, what model did you get?

What do your service intervals show on idrive or app? They are normally linked to time, 2 years for oil service, 3 years for brake fluid change from build date

I would get in contact with dealer especially if you are expecting a UK delivery - I’ve had to source a different car as was told they won’t ship till Brexit sorted

BREXIT Delays my BMW
Ordered x3 16th Feb 2019
Promised!!!Delivery 1st week of May 2019
Built and at status of 6000 with distribution 13th March 2019
Latest e-mail from BMW today 13th April attached
Going backwards fast
Cannot see BREXIT anytime soon

Dear Mike

Thanks for the email about the delivery of your BMW X3.

A number of South African built IVS status 6000 vehicles are being held currently at the ports of exit. This is due to our Brexit preparations and is designed to mitigate against the risk of any potential problems as a result of possible changes to customs processes at UK ports in the immediate aftermath of Brexit.

I’ve had a look and have found that your car was transferred to the distributor on 13-0302019 but got delayed, it is now due to be delivered on 23-06-2019.

I hope this was helpful and if you require further assistance then please get back in touch.

Kind regards

Hunain

Do you think i'm affected? My build date was w/b 11th March for Mid May delivery. If this is the case then i will cancel. I can't wait any longer as my Merc went back early March.

Mine was built at Rosslyn 12th March 2019

My promised delivery was early May but has recessed every time I have contacted BMW Genius now 26th June apparently purely BREXIT related

I am sure you might be in the same boat as (or not as the case maybe!!

I attach info from an earlier posting by Shawns321 which has some tracking sites

*****************************************

Rosslyn SA build here as well, took delivery a couple weeks ago.

You can track the vessel schedule for the carrier from this page.
http://www.molroro.com/MOLVesselSchedule.aspx

Just set your "POL" to 'durban' and see which vessels head to the US west coast.

Once your vehicle is out of production use this site to see when it gets dropped off at the port by BMW - http://41.160.4.58:8080/apex/f?p=102:11:0::NO

To search on this site change the Category type to 'Cars' and enter the last seven of your VIN. The site was about a day behind for my '18 340i xDrive, but let me know when it arrived at port (via rail) and which boat it left on, which I could then track with the vessel schedule site linked above.

And once underway the best site I found for vessel tracking was https://www.marinetraffic.com/, which was always more up to date than any of the other vessel tracking sites I looked at.

And for me, my boat (NEPTUNE ACE) went from Rosslyn/Durban to another port in SA and then straight New Jersey, skipping the stop in Europe. It then stopped in Baltimore which was my port of entry. Boats out of Rosslyn/Durban to the US do seem to be more spread out compared to German builds, leaving once every 3-4 weeks. My car sat at the port for 22 days becuase I just missed a vessel heading to the east coast. The transit at sea was 20 days.

I can't take credit for all this good tracking info, there's a thread with these details in another post. I can confirm this worked great for me.

Best luck tracking your vehicle. It's cliche because you see everyone saying it, but the wait is well worth it!

Despite me asking for my tracking numbers I’m never given them. Mine is a lease through a broker and corporate sales person at BMW. Takes ages to get any information. I’m n it first thing tomorrow and insist I get an answer as well. I’m paying a lot for this car and I’m fed up waiting from my original March delivery date.

BMWs being held in South Africa

Good luck with that

I have my AG number My DLR Number and my VIN

I know when it went into the paint shop and when the build was completed which was exactly 4 weeks ago.Since then my BMW has been off the radar at a status of 6000 and my X3 has been "offload" in a field in Pretoria .

I can only see two car carriers coming from Durban to Bremerhaven in the next couple of weeks the Palmela and Genuine Ace but it appears BMW are NOT shipping from SA to UK !!!

Thank you government for this mess -not resolvable soon I guess.

Is the car getting on the boat?

My X3 M-Sport 2.0i migrated from Rosslyn to the port of Durban by road some 421 miles (hopefully on a transporter!!) and arrived 21st April 2019 after sitting at the factory for some six weeks.

The car transporter Genuine Ace has just berthed at the Durban RORO facility and is scheduled to come to Europe first, Bremerhaven, then Southampton and then to USA.

Will my car get on it??

Just an update on mine. Ordered Dec 18 for late MArch/Early April delivery. Was then told May, and was then told all X3s from South Africa will be late June with no guarantee could be more. I've now cancelled my order and sourced the very first G20 330d in the country courtesy of TRL Berry. Delivery in 2 weeks.
