Apparently, because the sensor is quite wide, it is not installed if you have the North American Tow hitch. It is installed with the EU version

Mice consistently fails if there is even the slightest amount of slush. I did not have that problem with my F34. Pity, because it is most convenient when the weather is bad and the manual release is wet/grimy.

I presently have my X3 at the dealership to look at the rear hatch foot actuated hatch opener. I have experienced problems when it rains and snows. The hatch will not open apparently when wet. The latest episode was last week when I washed the undercarriage to remove any salt residue from the winter. Afterwards, the auto hatch opener would not work. After a day it was good to go again. As of this time, the dealership cannot replicate the problem. I guess I will have to wait until it rains really hard and when it's not working to bring it in. If they do find the problem I will update this post.

What is the principle of operation of the kick to open sensors? Optical? Magnetic? Ultrasonic? Capacitance?

Hi,

Just had a Westfalia Invisible Removable towbar installed on my 2016 F26 X4 35d and the kick open works but only when the car has been unlocked.

For some reason the kick open doesn't work if it's been shutdown for awhile, I unfortunately have to use remote to unlock car.

I know the towbar installer had to do some coding.

Any ideas whether it can be fixed?

Cheerz

Afaik it’s not ultrasonic or optical, so some type of short range field disturbance detection.

Works fine with the factory fitted towbar on my car.
